Into My Window is a book of poetry that focuses on expression, enlightenment and encouragement. The author’s intention is to give poems that inspire and comfort the reader, letting them know that there are other people who go through the same things on the path from child to adult.

Tell me something about yourself? I’m a creative force that is stuck in box due to the way that America treats its arts. A perfect example is how a lawyer gets paid more then a teacher. I was born on August 27, 1981 at 7 am in Hempstead NY. My mother was more then a woman, she was a sole survivor as some may say. While my father, on the other hand, was a boy stuck in a man’s body. My life story, in summary, continues in Atlanta until my father passes away from what I was told as Lung Cancer when I was 9. Before the death of my father, my mom, me and my little brother to Bryn Mawr, PA to leave behind my abusive father and his constant lies and deceit to feed his heroin addiction. When I entered high school, I was pretty much a normal child until my mom broke the news to me that she was HIV infected. The cause of this infection at the time was very unnoticeable, but my mother said that she had contracted the disease one night when she was raped by my father some four years earlier. This turned out to be the real cause of his death. At the time the news didn’t really affect me. My mom used to say that I have the type of personality that allows things to roll off my back. By my senior year of high school, my mom’s health had reached the worst. My mother passed away two months after my high school graduation. In addition, I am the author of “Into My Window.”

What inspires you to write? I am inspired by love, life, disappointments, reality, and visions.

How long have you been writing? Since I could write, really, so about 8 years old. I would say 5, but I’m sure it was not the deepest of writing if you know what I mean.

What are some your publications? “Into My Window” is my poetry debut, which was published by PublishAmerica in 2006 and “He has Risen” which was published at AHA! POETRY in May 2006.

What was your experience in publishing your first poetry debut, Into My Window? I took about 4 months off from work to write about five poems a day. I took a mix of old material that I updated and I also created a lot of new material from things that were going on at that time. It was a great experience and an amazing time in my life. It is definitely a long term goal that I’m climbing for.

What do you want viewers to take away by reading your first poetry debut, Into My Window? How did you come up with the title? I want readers to know that in life, we all face many obstacles and sorrows. We need to learn that we are not alone and it’s not always easy to understand that these times are what make us stronger and creates our character. I hope after reading my book people will find strength and be inspired to pursue your dreams no matter what you may be going through, or what your age or race is.

Where is your book currently available? Borders, Barnes and Noble, and Amazon.com

What is your target audience? My target audience is teenagers and college students. It gives me the opportunity to speak with them.

Do you have any projects that you are working on? I’m currently working on my first album as a solo artist. It is still untitled at this point, and is currently at the halfway stage, but as an artist, my work is never finished.
