Los Angeles Street at Temple\r\nWho: Panther Eight Unity Mission, including\r\nBlack Riders Liberation Party, Jericho Amnesty Coalition Los Angeles\r\n\r\nOn the occasion of a bail reduction hearing set\r\nin San Francisco for four of the eight former\r\nBlack Panthers recently indicted on 36-year-old\r\ncharges based on police torture of some of the\r\ndefendants and of the key witness for the\r\nprosecution, there will be an emergency support\r\ndemonstration and press conference to demand\r\nfreedom for the BP8 and all political prisoners.\r\n\r\nIt will take place on Wednesday, February 14 at\r\n5:00 PM outside the downtown Federal Building on\r\nLos Angeles Street at Temple Street. Although the\r\neight former Blank Panther Party members,\r\nincluding local Altadena residents Ray Boudreaux\r\nand Hank Jones, are facing trial in San\r\nFrancisco, there has been clear federal\r\ninvolvement from the very beginning, in 1971, as\r\npart of the COINTELPRO attack on the Black\r\nliberation movement. Therefore, members of the\r\nPanther Eight Unity Mission are taking their\r\npublic action at the Los Angeles Federal Building.\r\n\r\nAlthough the Eight are charged with conspiracy to\r\nkill a police officer, the real conspiracy was\r\nthe COINTELPRO secret dirty war on the Black\r\nfreedom movement and other liberation struggles,\r\nin which the FBI and local police forces killed,\r\ntortured, framed up, shot up and otherwise waged\r\nchemical, psychological and other forms of\r\nwarfare on the Panthers. The new indictments are\r\nan attempt to lock up people who withstood and\r\nexposed torture and remained steadfast in their\r\ncommitment to and love of their people. It is\r\nalso designed to intimidate supporters of new\r\nCongressional hearings into COINTELPRO, and to\r\nprevent the parole of two of the new defendants,\r\nJalil Muntaquin and Herman Bell, who have already\r\nserved more than 30 years in prison for their\r\ninvolvement in the Black liberation movement.\r\n\r\nAll people of conscience are invited to attend\r\nthe rally and press conference. Endorsing groups\r\ninclude the Black Riders Liberation Party, the\r\nJericho Amnesty Coalition, the Danza Mexica\r\nCuauhtemoc, the Puerto Rican Alliance, Asians for\r\nJericho and Mumia, Union del Barrio, Anti-Racist\r\nAction, and others that have come together to\r\nsupport the Black Panther Eight and the Committee\r\nto Defend Human Rights, their defense effort.\r\nPress statements from the community groups\r\ninvolved, a fact sheet on the case, and contact\r\ninformation for the prisoners will be available\r\nat the rally and press conference.\r\n\r\nAlso don't forget the LA premiere showing of\r\n"Legacy of Torture: The War Against the Black\r\nLiberation Movement," a powerful new documentary\r\nabout the former Panthers base around their\r\nrecent incarceration as Grand Jury resisters and\r\ntheir torture back in 1971. Who are what is the source of these accusations against ICE and its raids on the MTA.
