South Central Farm: Arrest Tally

Today there City Council further shamed itself. By failing ot act they have become accomplices with Ralph Horowitz. A new Palestine and Israel has been kicked off.

With 8 Felony arrests, 1 battery on a police officer, 1 battery on the driver of the Bulldozer the future of South Central Los Angeles looks grim.

Many of histories worst disasters have been over tiny simple things. In the case of Israel and Palestine, no one can factually state what the conflict was about. But many have died on both sides of the conflict. Many innocent. Many perishing in the name of self-rightenous on both sides.

The struggle of the South Central Farm maybe tiny in scale to many of the worlds conflicts but it represents a lever of disjunction between two different groups in this society.

Those who have survived through collective network systems that selfishly protects the groups' interest and those who have absolutely nothing and have been pulled by economic forces.

The self-preservation of displaced meso-american farmers through U.S. Subsidies programs v. Highly organized and connected wealthy Developers.

This seems to be crux of the problem. At what point will this hit critical mass? At what point does the the risk factor for these indivuals become less important than taking a principle stand?

The obsvious answer is, "When you have nothing to lose!" Many in this society are approaching that cross over point.

Why stoke the fires of rage? There wouldn't be this kind of momentum in our apathetic, lazy nation, if there was no authentic angst regarding the loss of a fundamental, 'grass roots' green space in the heart of an urban zone.

Clearly, the presence of that green food space, gives comfort to far more people than those who plant it or eat from it. I am writing from Kauai. Rarely do I respond to a small, localized element in a city in which I don't relate. I have no connection with any of these people.

The destruction with bulldozers of this dream, will give rise to more destruction, whether that is through angry protests of crime or rioting, or through destruction of individuals' sense of hope, faith in the system, or faith in themselves. This quiet destruction, also is a great cost to the city and community. It hurts the morale of our nation.
