The Black Panther Party galvanized millions of African Americans against police repression and brutality in the 1960s and 70s, upholding the right of armed self-defense. The government launched a campaign of murder, jailings and disinformation to destroy the BPP. This film documents the Chicago police murder of one of the most charismatic and effective leaders, Illinois Party chapter chairman, Fred Hampton.
Hampton’s electrifying words and actions inspired young Black people across the nation. Fred Hampton’s dream included all people when he proclaimed, “If we don’t stop fascism it’ll stop us all.” (1971, 88 min.)
