They are led to believe the center is a legal source of general labor workers, who are eligible for employment, in the USA.\r\n\r\nThe employer assumes all risk involved with hiring at a day labor site. \r\n\r\nThe employer is responsible for verifying the employment eligibility of employees, by processing the USDOJ-INS FORM I-9 and the IRS FORM W-4, at time of hire.\r\n\r\nThe employer must pay a fair wage to the employee, provide breaks, meals, restrooms, as needed, for the employee.\r\n\r\nEmployers must verify employee eligibility.\r\n\r\nThe employer must pay worker's compensation insurance for the injured employee, or on his\/her homeowners' policy.\r\n\r\nThe employer faces arrest, trial, fines and prison time, if found by federal authorities, to be hiring, transporting, or harboring an illegal alien.\r\n\r\nI don't care about eligible employees and legal immigrants, seeking work at the day labor sites, but the employer should be informed of their responsibility to separate them, and hire eligible workers -- of any race. \r\n\r\nSo, rather than stand there with signs, protesting the presence of the SOS, and shutting down the DLC, how about helping to inform the employers, about the laws, so they can come back later or go to a temporary agency, and properly hire a worker?\r\n\r\nLet's all pull together to make America a better place for our families to live in, today, tomorrow, and beyond.\r\n\r\nCopy this the I-9 form, W-4 form and the flyers seen on SOS. \r\nHelp me out. Everyone hates a bureaucracy (its just common sense)\r\n\r\nWhy would anyone want to undergo countless hours of paperwork and forms for a temporary 1 day worker. If I need help fixing my roof (a 1 day job) I'm not going to wait 3 months for the proper paperwork to be approved. Plus, no American is going to do hard work for the amount I can pay, not even the homeless people that say "Will work for food" believe me I've tried. What SOS proposes does not make common sense. And you can not apply this to companies because long term workers need legal documents to be hired because businesses actually do fill out the bureaucratic paperwork needed for workers and worker benefits. The only place where undocumented workers are "taking over" is in low skill, high turnover, temporary jobs which is definitly not my first choice for work as an American.
