Then I had to go, before I could hide anything. Oh well. I was going to comment on your thing too.\r\n\r\nI agree - they should re-eminent domain the land and pay him back his money. I don't think anyone's saying Horowitz shouldn't be compensated.\r\n\r\nThere is a fishy stench about this whole deal. I suspect that H. is getting a sweetheard deal: first, the city council blocks the original owner from buying the land, second, the cc overlooks this existing use, which could potentially justify the taking of the property by ED, third, they turn and without much ado, sell to H for not much money, (and without giving the occupants an opportunity to buy it, I've learned).\r\n\r\nhttp:\/\/www.laweekly.com\/ink\/04\/17\/a.php\r\n\r\nNow, two liberal politicians are fleeing the scene, trying to ignore the whole thing. Don't they see their credibility swirling down the toilet?\r\n\r\nThe big "?" in my mind is Villaraigosa. On the one hand, he's the most liberal mayor LAs had, probably ever. On the other hand, this guy got a big endorsement by Riordan, the nondescript past mayor who ushered in downtown development... and who just happened to be a real-estate developer.\r\n\r\nAnd he seemed to preside over a few tear-downs of public housing to build publically funded... townhomes. Townhomes that are less dense, and house fewer people. Hmm...\r\n\r\nIt's all starting to sound like a real estate themed Roman Polanski's Chinatown. Maybe they can call it "Boyle Heights" or "Eagle Rock".","author":"johnk","parent_id":140195,"mime_type":"text\/plain","created":"2005-12-02 09:09:19","modified":"2005-12-02 09:09:19","fileurl":""},{"id":140344,"heading":"got a question for you, johnk","article":"I reposted this on this newswire and it's now deleted, not hidden, but deleted.\r\n-US Military, President Out of Control-\r\nWhat was wrong?","author":"Sheepdog","parent_id":140195,"mime_type":"text\/plain","created":"2005-12-02 16:22:54","modified":"2005-12-02 16:22:54","fileurl":""},{"id":140348,"heading":"Comment hidden by mistake","article":"Comment restored.","author":"IMC admin staffer","parent_id":140195,"mime_type":"text\/plain","created":"2005-12-02 17:51:19","modified":"2005-12-02 17:51:19","fileurl":""},{"id":140349,"heading":"uh thanks, LA","article":"Still can't find it.\r\nAnyway, thanks for responding....","author":"Sheepdog","parent_id":140195,"mime_type":"text\/plain","created":"2005-12-02 17:56:54","modified":"2005-12-02 17:56:54","fileurl":""},{"id":140356,"heading":"addendum","article":"I found it.\r\nhttp:\/\/la.indymedia.org\/news\/2005\/11\/140269.php\r\nThank you, LA.","author":"Sheepdog","parent_id":140195,"mime_type":"text\/plain","created":"2005-12-02 19:42:49","modified":"2005-12-02 19:42:49","fileurl":""}]}
