1745 symbols were put up this July 4th weekend to represent all of the US soldiers that have died needlessly in the war in Iraq.

Beach goers were confronted with the ugly reality of war as they approached the water for a day of fun in the sun. Veterans for Peace & Topanga Peace Alliance, along with countless other volunteers, face the daunting task of putting up symbols, crosses, stars and moons, every weekend to remind people of the human cost of war.
