Martin Luther King Day Parade
MONDAY January 17th, 10:00 a.m. gather on the east side of Normandie Avenue between MLK Boulevard and Vernon Avenue. Look for an area marked out in chalk on the street that says "GROUP 327."
Join with Rev. James Lawson, the veteran civil rights leader who marched and organized alongside Rev. Martin Luther King; Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace (ICUJP); The Coalition Against Militarism in Schools (CAMS); and CODEPINK-LA to honor Rev. Martin Luther King's legacy of peace and opposition to war and violence in the Los Angeles Kingdom Day Parade.
We will be marching in the parade as a registered group under ICUJP banner to bring a much-needed emphasis on King's legacy of non-violence to a celebration of King's life that has become far too dominated by a military presence.
Please wear white (a white sash or t-shirt is fine) so that the group can have a unified presence. You are welcome to make and bring your own PINK signs that honor Dr. King's legacy of non-violence. ICUJP will also have signs made for participants to carry.
For more information please call ICUJP office at (626) 683-9004 or check out www.icujp.org
