It was shut down by your police for not having a permit to dance and a permit for dj music. What kind of city are you??? What are the kids who want to have some good clean fun supposed to do? The woman who was hosting the party is a very good spirituasl minded woman who wanted to do something good for the kids...your city's screwed up policies certainly took away their rights to have fun. Here's a news flash...YOUR CITY SUCKS!!!

As an independent reporter I will be posting this on the internet for all the world to see. If this is the policy you and you administration set the I haope you are all defeated in the next election. Such Ignorance deserves to be pushed aside. Shame on you and your police department! They keep stopping, and the shows keep happening.

They should make a special no-drinking party permit. These events are a net *positive* to the commmunity, because they keep people from getting wasted. One single drunk driving accident costs us thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars. If there were more no-drink parties, there might be one less drunk driving incident.

By encouraging a few dozen of these parties here and there each weekend, you could put a dent in DUIs.

I'm not saying people don't drink at these parties. They might drink in the car. But they aren't drinking all night, like at a bar or something. So, maybe they put away a few drinks in the car, but four hours later, the event's over, and they're sober again.

Also, there are a lot of people who might drink otherwise, who just won't drink at an all-ages event. I'm like that. It's too much trouble to drink up, so I often abstain. Maybe I'll get drinks after, but that's a big maybe. The net effect is that I drink less or not at all!
Please provide more information about what exactly happened. Police harassment can be fought. But it must be well documented. Photos, video, witnesses, written testimony and the like. Post it all here and get people fired up.

On partying: Have parties at secure locations. Have monitors at the next party, do your own counter surveillance, out the undercovers, get scanners, know that the cops can monitor cell phone calls. And document with video the cops every move and word if they show. And don’t make it easy for them to break up your party. Cops are basically lazy. If something is to much work they will go on to something else. Get organized and fight for your right to party or we will continue to be victimized.

“If the kids are united we will never be defeated”

"It was shut down by your police for not having a permit to dance and a permit for dj music."

Please tell me what city you're in that rquires a permit to dance. Also, you may have to inform any neighbors.

Police attitudes vary by city.

Were there security volunteers?

A lot of the better organized events have one or two people who volunteer to do security, and keep people within the building, keep them away from the neighbors, watch the cars, deal with drunks and cops, and so forth.

Also, it's good to know the fire codes and basic fire safety.
Somehow I don't think there's going to be alot of info forthcoming from our intrepid oppressed reporter.

I think I'll chalk this one up to another case of disgruntled, spelling challenged youth gets pissed at the cops for breaking up the party.

Welcome to one of your many rites of passage.
