It is through this

relationship that the play explores politics,

prison reform, the post 9\/11 wars, and interethnic

hostility. Spiced with tragedy and humor,

this play has a happy ending! \"SALSA NIGHTS\"

incorporates seduction, murder, abortion,

suicide, blackmail, prostitution, immigrant

bashing, anti-semitism, campaign contributions,

\"salsa\" and other diversions of the Southern

California lifesyle.

At its core, \"SALSA NIGHTS\" deals with a

very serious subject matter: the \"Three Strikes\"

law. Passed by California voters in 1994,

\"Three Strikes\" has a ten year track record

of incarcerating thousands of young adults,

mostly for minor offenses. The result has

been devastating throughout many poor Spanish

speaking\/African-American communities. Worst

yet, while inside these prisons, these young

adults are violated, both physically and

emotionally, as forced into slave labor.

As a result, an alarming number have turned

to suicide as last a straw! Many families

have been ruined! It is unacceptable to

continue with this law in its current

form!

The play, \"SALSA NIGHTS\", will run through the

end of October, just before the proposed

amendment to the \"Three Strikes\" law,

Proposition 66, is to be voted on. Under

Proposition 66, Californians can cast

their ballots in favor of amending this

unjust law.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

\"SALSA NIGHTS\" - A project composed of a seventeen

member cast, will target twelve performances

during the month of October at the Unitarian

Church of Orange County in Anaheim. Three acts,

four presentations each week-end, from Oct.

15-31: Fridays, 7:30 pm; Saturdays, 2:30 and

7:00 pm; Sundays, 2:30 matinee. (schedule

posted below) Although suggested donation is

$8 for the play, nobody will be turned away

for lack of funds.
