Cooked up in the fall of 1999, it was a largely publicity oriented campaign designed to shed some light on a system of electronic surveillance that had gone on unchecked, indeed even unrecognized for too long. Since it is harder for someone to get information from you that you wish kept secret if you know that they are there, we dove headlong into it and by "we" I mean myself and Grant Bayley - HTML designer for the original JED website at wiretapped.net. Of course, after its launch, the world took over spreading the word. Six months or so later, Echelon was detailed on Sixty Minutes having gone from being a nutty conspiracy theory to knowledge in the public domain. Firstly, some people became acquainted, for the first time, with the notion that two people who were not among the "powerful" could spark a global movement. Secondly, that the campaign was taken up globally in several languages said to the world, "We can be one."\r\n\r\nNeedless to say, these paradigms are the enemy of social control. We made the National Security Agency look bad and in the ensuing three years I would be subject to an insidious variety of psychological operations designed to destabilize and discredit. Various manner of confusing techniques would be used after a few months of having operatives "befriend" me in order to discover what made me tick. By getting an idea of my belief system it would become easier to undo my "uppitiness." I would be targeted for "re-education."\r\n\r\nA program designed to track down corporate critics called Cybersleuth would enable such entities to track me for such purposes. The ability to pin-point the geographical precision your detractors was used as one of E-watch's selling points in the marketing of this program. James Glave was on the Hacktivism list during all discussions of the planned event so he was in on all of the information from the get go. Yet, when he wrote the article for Wired, entitled 'Hackers Ascend Upper Echelon,' the text contained grossly innacurate information. For one, the event was said to have been initiated by Linda Thompson's American Justice Federation, a right-wing tank of people that I would come, over the years, to know as fame-starved and unscrupulous. Linda Thompson was not on the list nor was she involved in any way. Also, the date of the event was misrepresented as October 18, 1999 instead of October 21 as per the globally distributed alert. This was designed, in my opinion, to have the following effects:\r\n\r\n1. By attributing the event to the AJF and associating it with Linda Thompson, it would be sneered at, even laughed at as just another right-wing paranoia push.\r\n\r\n2. By claiming the date as October 18 instead of October 21, confusion would be wrought taking steam out of the campaign.\r\n\r\n3. In response to the dissemination of this second alert, James Glave's cronie broncbuster (at) 2600.com would email me and threaten me, albeit vaguely. Over the next three years I would have some twenty email accounts hacked into, have passwords changed, etc.\r\n\r\nConsidering that the NSA is the world's largest employer of mathemeticians and that the NSA is the premier governmental surveillance outfit - AND that the internet WAS devised by the Department of Defense, it is no surprise that I would be easily tracked over the next three years of travelling and "worked on." Perhaps I should have taken heed early in the campaign. After posting the alert to about fifty newsgroups, I arrived at a newsgroup entitled NSA-info (if I recall correctly). As the newsgroup's window popped up on my screen I noticed that someone had posted something entitled 'Echelon' just two minutes prior to my own arrival at the newsgroup. "How serendipitous," I thought. All the text read was "Listening..."\r\n\r\nNot serendipitous but contrived.\r\n\r\nAlso, for the first two years or so after the event, I would use the free email service offered by disinfo.com not knowing that it was a tentacle of U.S. Army psychological operations. Alex Burns of conspiracy, disinfo fame is an ex-member of the Church of Satan explaining a little about his relationship to an individual I will go much into, Michael Aquino. Michael Aquino is a former (?) operative for the Army's Psychological Operations unit, ex-member of the Church of Satan, and founder of the Temple of Set. He was implicated in the 1977 Senate hearings on MK-ULTRA and has been linked to ritual abuse of minors in the San Francisco Bay area - a charge he would evade retribution for. Keep in mind that Aquino was a member of the Process Church of the Final Judgement (like Son of Sam and Charles Manson). I think that if you read through this whole piece and actually thoroughly explore the links I have provided that you will understand why I am left with NO CHOICE but to presume that someone tried to recruit me for an act that required the absensce of feeling (kamikaze anyone?) and this was to be accomplished by depriving me of sleep in order to program me with traumatic theater, in the two years prior to September 11. It was titled, "From PSYOP to MindWar: The Psychology of Victory" by Colonel Paul E. Vallely with Major Michael A. Aquino. \r\n\r\nThe 12page Army report was undated but it outlined the use of "Psychotronics," intelligence and operational weapons systems employing the use of mind control, commonly known as Psychological Operations (PSYOP). \r\n\r\nWrote Aquino, "In 1967 and 1968 alone, a total of 29,276 armed Viet Cong\/NVA (the equivalent of 95 enemy infantry battalions) surrendered to ARVN or MACV forces under the Chieu Hoi amnesty program the major PSYOP effort of the Vietnam War. At the time MACV estimated that the elimination of that same number of enemy troops in combat would have cost us 6,000 dead." \r\n\r\nAquino argued that the U.S. lost the war in Vietnam "not because we were outfought, but because we were outPSYOPed. Our national will to victory was attacked more effectively than we attacked that of the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong, and preception of this fact encouraged the enemy to hang on until the United States finally broke and ran for home." \r\n\r\nThe lesson, according to Aquino, was not to ignore U.S.\r\nPSYOP capability, but rather to change it and strengthen it "so that it can do precisely that kind of thing to our enemy in the next war." To begin, there would be a name change from Psychological Operations to "MindWar." Noted Aquino, "We must reach the people BEFORE they resolve to support their armies, and we must reach those armies BEFORE\r\nour combat troops ever see them on battlefields." \r\n\r\nAquino went on to compare his proposal with the definition of Psychological Warfare first introduced by General William Donovan of the OSS in his World War II era "Basic Estimate of Psychological Warfare" in which Donovan discussed the need to destroy the will of the enemy. But an attendant 1947 letter stressed the need for a "synonym which could be used in peacetime that would not shock the sensibilities of a citizen of democracy." \r\n\r\nAquino indicated contempt for the U.S. Army's inability to accept PSYOP in its "most effective configuration," adding that "the reluctance with which the Army had accepted even an `antiseptic' PSYOP component" was well documented. \r\n\r\nHaving read about General Donovan's "behavioral control" program in the MKUltra book, I didn't perceive it to be exactly "antiseptic." Aquino's report, obviously written after the Vietnam war, suggested that future MindWars should be fought through "skillful use of communications media." \r\n\r\n"MindWar," noted Aquino, "states a whole truth that, if it does not now exist, will be forced into existence by the will of the United States ... A MindWar message does not have to fit conditions of abstract credibility as do PSYOP themes; its source makes it credible." \r\n\r\nAquino continued, " ... The MindWar operative must KNOW\r\nthat he speaks the truth, and he must be PERSONALLY\r\nCOMMITTED to it. What he says is only a part of MindWar; the rest and the test of its effectiveness lies in the conviction he projects to his audience, in the rapport he establishes with it." \r\n\r\nAs I read the document it was difficult not to recall\r\nOliver North's diary in which he called his associates, "The True Believers." (More on that in another chapter). Aquino noted that the recipient of the statement by the MindWar operative would judge such messages not only by his conscious understanding of them, but also by the mental conditions under which he perceived them. "For the mind to believe its own decisions," wrote Aquino, "it must feel that it made those decisions without coercion. Coercive measures used by the MindWar operative, consequently, must not be detectable by ordinary means ..." \r\n\r\nAquino's basis for his report came from various\r\npublications which were listed at the back of the document. "More effective configurations" of MindWar as noted by Aquino may well have included the following (taken from the back of the document): \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSo, the human brain can be aligned to infrasound through media broadcasts. Was that technology used on Manuel Noriega when he was forced to surrender in Panama under blaring radio broadcasts? And hadn't the Branch Davidians had been subjected to loud music and chants for extended periods of time? \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAfter his retirement from the Army, Lieutenant Colonel\r\nMichael Aquino, an exGreen Beret, was later written up in the San Francisco Chronicle as the head of the Temple of Set, a satanic, devilworshipping church. The November 1987 headlines read as follows: "Army Says Constitution Lets Satanist Hold Top Secret Job," by reporters John Whittinger and Bill Wallace. The story went on to say that "the high priest of a San Fancisco based satanic church is able to keep his topsecret security clearance because his activities are constitutionally protected, Army officials said yesterday. "Lieutenant Colonel Michael A. Aquino, a\r\nhighly decorated Vietnam veteran, is the founder and\r\npresident of Temple of Set, a satanic church headquartered in Aquino's Russian Hill home ... \r\n\r\n"Aquino, a psychological warfare officer who has worked in military intelligence, holds a top secret security clearance that allows him to handle information whose release would gravely damage U.S. security, according to Defense Department regulations. \r\n\r\n"He maintains the clearance even though he has performed Nazi occult rites and has described himself as the `AntiChrist' in literature published by the Temple of Set..." \r\n\r\nTemple of Set literature described a coming apocalypse in which only followers of Satan would be saved. Readers were encouraged to read such works as "Mein Kampf," "Hitler: The Occult Messiah," and "The Occult Roots of Nazism." \r\n\r\nAquino conducted occult rituals patterned on ceremonies\r\nperformed by Nazi leader Heinrich Himmler in a German\r\ncastle once used by the Nazi SS for black magic ceremonies during the Third Reich. Nazis considered the black arts and satanic worship part of an ancient Germanic tradition. \r\n\r\nAquino, in his book, "Crystal Tablet of Set," wrote that he performed the rituals to recreate an order of Knighthood for followers of Satan. He even encouraged his followers to study the beliefs of the Nazi terrorist group, the Vehm, the Thule Gesselschaft, and the Ahnenerbe, two fanatic rightwing Aryan groups that existed before and during Hitler's reign. \r\n\r\nWhen the two reporters from the Chronicle inquired about Aquino's security clearances, Major Rixon declared that "to the best of his knowledge, there was no part of the liturgy of his church that caused any (security) problem." Aquino admitted to being involved in devil worship for 22 years. \r\n\r\nTed Gunderson's box contained reams of literature written by Aquino along with other documents pertaining to identical subject matter. It was no secret that Gunderson lectured on the subject of Satanism, as I learned from a July 1993 Colonel Bo Gritz newsletter which advertised Gunderson as a featured speaker on one of Gritz's national radio broadcasts. \r\n\r\nBut it was not the Satanic aspect of Aquino's writings that caused me to scrutinize his earlier writings for the Army. Shortly after the Waco incident in Texas, a secret "classified conference" was held at the Los Alamos National Laboratories in New Mexico.
