Rumors are flying over Gaza that Hamas Spiritua Leader Shiek Yassin was executed with the consent of the Palestinian Authority and Yasser Arafat.

The execution of Yassin follows by a few days upon the shootout between PA and Hamas factions.

It is believed that the pending withdrawal of IDF forces would only be completed if the PA could guaranty control of Gaza City and the Gaza Strip. By assassinating Yassin, the Israelis just\r\napplied the Bush Doctrine to one of the most deadly terrorist leaders\r\non the face of the planet. In the winner-take-all war on terror,\r\ncountries are either with us or against us. They either take decisive\r\naction -- even preemptive military action -- to bring terrorists to\r\njustice, or they are guilty of aiding and abetting the enemy. Israel\r\nis clearly with us. God bless them.

\r\nYou'd think, therefore, that the Bush administration -- fresh off of\r\nlosing Spain as a major ally in the war against radical Islam -- would\r\nbe grateful and publicly praise our only democratic ally in the Middle\r\nEast as a true partner for peace. Sadly, you'd be wrong.

\r\nThe Bush administration's initial reaction to Israel's act of\r\nself-defense has been mealy-mouthed, pathetic and morally\r\noffensive.

\r\nWhite House Press Secretary Scott McClellan says all parties in the\r\nregion should show "maximum restraint." State Department\r\nspokesman Richard Boucher likewise says "it's essential that all\r\nthe parties exercise maximum restraint and do everything possible to\r\navoid any further actions that would make more difficult the\r\nrestauration of calm." National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice\r\nconcedes "Hamas is a terrorist organization and that Sheik Yassin\r\nhas himself, personally, we believe, been involved in terrorist\r\nplanning." But she's quick to add that "it is very important\r\nthat everyone step back now and try now to be calm in the\r\nregion."

\r\nThis is hardly a full-throated defense for an American ally under\r\nsiege by a seemingly never-ending wave of 9\/11-style suicide bombers.\r\nIndeed, the Bush administration suddenly sounds eerily similar to our\r\nwarm-weather friends in Europe. British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw\r\nsays Israel's the assassination of Sheik Yassin "unacceptable,\r\nit's unjustified, and it's very unlikely to achieve its objective."\r\n=46rench Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin says Israel's actions\r\nwill "only fuel the cycle of violence."

Israel's move was both justified and\r\nlikely to achieve its objective, if it's followed up by an all-out war\r\non Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the militant elements of Yasser Arafat's\r\nmurderous regime. Let's be clear about the facts. Under Sheik Yassin's\r\ninspiration and direction, Hamas launched 425 attacks against Israel\r\nover the past three and a half years. Among these were more than 50\r\nsuicide bombings, such as the March 2002 bombing of a Passover\r\ncelebration at a seaside hotel and the June 2002 suicide bombing of a\r\nJerusalem bus carrying children on their way to school.

\r\nAll told, Hamas has killed some 377 Israelis and wounded 2,076 others,\r\na horrifyingly huge number given Israel's relatively small population.\r\nIndeed, in proportion to our own population, that would be similar to\r\nal-Qaeda killing 16,956 American souls, and wounding another\r\n93,420.

\r\nCan you imagine the Bush administration exercising "maximum\r\nrestraint" if over 100,000 Americans had been killed or wounded\r\nat the hands of a radical Islamic terrorist network? Of course not.\r\nIt's hard to imagine even John "hell no we won't go" Kerry\r\nshowing such "restraint" if Americans were being slaughtered\r\nin such ghastly numbers.

\r\nWhy then won't the Bush White House proudly stand side-by-side with\r\nIsrael as a strategic ally against a radical Islamic jihad? Is not\r\nIsrael following President Bush's own requests?<\/font><\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nOn September 20, 2001, the President addressed a Joint Session of\r\nCongress and told the world: "Our war on terror begins with\r\nal-Qaeda, but it does not end there. It will not end until every\r\nterrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped and\r\ndefeated=85. Americans should not expect one battle, but a lengthy\r\ncampaign, unlike any other we have ever seen. It may include dramatic\r\nstrikes, visible on TV, and covert operations, secret even in success.\r\nWe will starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another,\r\ndrive them from place to place, until there is no refuge or no rest.\r\nAnd we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to\r\nterrorism. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make.\r\nEither you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. Many nations are acting forcefully. But some governments will be\r\ntimid in the face of terror. And make no mistake about it: If they do\r\nnot act, America will."

\r\nIn his June 1, 2002 speech at West Point, the President stated\r\nunequivocally: "Our security will require transforming the\r\nmilitary you will lead - a military that must be ready to strike at a\r\nmoment's notice in any dark corner of the world. And our security will\r\nrequire all Americans to be forward-looking and resolute, to be ready\r\nfor preemptive action when necessary to defend our liberty and to\r\ndefend our lives."

\r\nDistancing ourselves from foul-weather friends such as Israel won't\r\nhelp us win the war on terror. Indeed, for the first time, Hamas --\r\nconvinced the U.S. gave Israel the green light for assassinating\r\nYassin -- is now directly threatening the United States with\r\nretaliation. "All the Muslims of the world will be honored to\r\njoin in on the retaliation for this crime," says a new Hamas\r\nstatement. "The Zionists didn't carry out their operation without\r\ngetting the consent of the terrorist American administration, and it\r\nmust take responsibility for this crime." Mohammed Mahdi Akef --\r\nhead of an Egyptian terrorist faction known as the Muslim Brotherhood\r\n-- told Al-Jazeera television: "There can be no life for the\r\nAmericans and Zionists in the region. We will not rest until they are\r\nexpelled from the region."
