February 29th 2004 By depicting a national cemetery for fallen soldiers in Iraq Veterans for Peace provides a genuine memorial in the sand. At the same time they draw attention to Iraqi deaths by asking participants to image an entire beach covered in grave markers.

Politics Need Not Apply Zone
Arlington West Project, Veterans for Peace have created a real and powerful focus point for our grief. Folks placing nametags with flowers had many thoughts and emotions ranging from “these soldiers died for our freedom“ to “Bush lied they died”. The flavor of the emotion didn’t matter, the fact that now there is a visceral alternative to the media’s vanilla coverage did, thank-you Vets for Peace.
