Send a letter before March 19 to request action by the Congressional Budget Committees.

The housing voucher program is the nations principal low-income housing assistance program and currently assists two million low-income households, most of them low-income working families, elderly people, or people with disabilities. The program enables these households to afford modest rental units in the private housing market. The budget proposal to cut and radically alter the program would almost certainly have harsh consequences for many of these families.

These cuts are deeper, and more threatening to the low-income families and elderly and disabled people whom the program serves, than any proposal advanced by any prior Administration during the voucher programs 30-year history. The program began in 1974, when it was created under the Nixon Administration.

<\/p>\n","contact":"","link":"http:\/\/capwiz.com\/sjhs\/issues\/alert\/?alertid=5261016","address":"","phone":"","parent_id":0,"mime_type":"text\/plain","summary":"Take Action Now!
