ADORES PEOPLE MY MOM (name not listed) GIVING ME UP 'CAUSE SHE WANTS TO TRAVEL & DOESN'T WANT ME ALONG!!

MY STORY, by Nala - Dogo Argentino

My name is \"Nala\", and I'm a pure breed Dogo Argentino - quite rare, (look it up if you don't believe me). I am only 2 years old, been spayed and up to date on my shots, and even potty trained. Folks tell me I'm beautiful, (even with both fangs missing - no false teeth please); have great soulful eyes, and quite intelligent too. I adore you humans; and just love to cuddle with you and be your lap dog. You'll discover just how very affectionate I really am. I will lie by your feet snoring quietly at the end of a \"hard day of

playing\". So what's my problem you may ask? I need to be the only \"child\" - no other dogs or cats. Please give me a good and loving home, and I promise to

be your best friend. I need someone who will love and understand me for the magnificent creature I truly am. I promise not to give you any trouble, just lots and lots of love if you adopt me. I've gone from street to home to kennel to home again, and am truly wanting to settle down in one place. What will become of me if I don't get adopted soon? I'm too frightened to think about

it...

Nala is 2 years old. She has been spayed and is current with all of her shots. She is a small girl, weighing about 72lbs. She loves to play ball, run,

hike, and of course cuddle. She will be happiest in a home where she is the only animal,as she desperately needs lots of love and attention.

For more information please contact: Joy Ray Rayofjoy@aol.com<\/a>

(Rescue Person)-NOT OWNER

or her daughter, Donna Willinsky (Rescue Person)-NOT OWNER

(323) 661-8083 home

(323) 828-2280 Cell Phone

BUT PLEASE HURRY!!!!

~~LOS ANGELES AREA~~

view pictures of Nala at:

www.ascar.com\/dogo\/html\/nala_s_pictures_3.html

WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT \"NALA\"?

DOGO ARGENTINO (AKA - MASTIFF ARGENTINE)

Dogos love to touch: First of all, they are the most endearing of canines.

Not only do they shower you with love and devotion, but a Dogo has to touch their masters. They do not lie at your feet; they lie with a paw or a nose touching you. Next, they have tremendous personalities. They engage you with a \"come on and love me\" signals (a bow, a dip, a lick, and even a smile). It is simply impossible to ignore them, and so they quickly have you bond to them ( and they to you).

Dogos love to be noticed: Some Dogos are large, about 26\" at the shoulders and weigh about 118lbs, Nala is fairly petite. They attract attention. and

perfect strangers will ask to pet them. Now why will perfect strangers want to pet a large mastiff with short cropped ears? Because they love everyone

(until they have good reason not to) and give them the \"come-on, don’t you want to pet me?\" They are so good natured, that it shows. . They also loves to be

noticed and petted. Nala is a real cutie and she loves to give puppy kisses to all.

Dogos wait for a situation to happen that requires them to get tough: Ok, so you heard that the Dogos are mean and great watch dogs, right? Not exactly.

Dogos are very laid back and passive - until the situation arrives - then they are very fast to meet the situation. Unlike Dobermans and Shepherds, they are

not active watch dogs or body guards. They are gentle until they need to be otherwise.

However, keep this in mind: A dogo will never start a fight (not with animals or humans), but if it comes to fight - they’ll finish it.

Handle Dogos with Love:. I base this on my own personal experiences.

Dogos should be well loved and never abused or even spanked, smacked or hit.

Correction with a Dogo must be positive and with love.

These are powerful animals that are bred with extreme high pain thresholds.

They can however be emotionally hurt very easy as they are extremely sensitive.

Even training must be in short sessions with excessive praise, so that they respond to your correction, rather than resent it. Unlike the Labrador Retriever who loves to please, the Dogo is an independent working hound. They want to know why you need to have them sit or lie down. They are thinkers, and as such are not good \"performers\". Now

that doesn’t mean you can’t train them, it just means you need to work at it.

Dogos are Different: First of all, they talk! Not words like humans, but they make probably about 20 or so different sounds. They have several barks, a couple of yowls, a few howls and lots of whines. Don’t expect a Dogo to stay silent.

\"Dogo\" translates to \"Mastiff\" - not dog: When the Romans invaded Britain, they did it with their War Mastiffs. In the early English language, these

Mastiffs were referred to as Dogues (Dogue in French still means Mastiff) and other canines were called Hounds. Around the 1300-1400 in England. There were so many descendents of these large were usually at least one or two Mastiffs per Village used as protection against wolfs and other predators. However, they were quite frequently referred to as \"Mat\" dogues, because they would lay at their master’s hearth mat - until trouble arrived!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nala is 2 years old.
