They will use this capture

as an attempt to further legitimize their occupation

and to silence all criticism and opposition. However,

one thing is unquestionably clear, the illegal

occupation of Iraq continues.

The “new developement in the “war on terrorism does

not change the fact that this war is immoral, unjust,

and illegitimate. It does not change the violations of

international law, the lies used to justify the

war----like finding weapons of mass destruction or

“liberating the Iraqi people----or the tens of

thousands of Iraqi lives stolen, or the hundreds of

U.S. lives lost. This will not end the Iraqi

resistance, as the administration might have hoped,

only a withdrawal of troops and an end to the

occupation will do that.

As they talk about finally seeking justice for the

Iraqi people by putting Saddam on trial, they will

conveniently leave out any mention of the crimes done

to the Iraqi people by the United States. It was the

U.S. who supplied the dictator with the very weapons

he used against his people. It was the U.S. led

sanctions that killed over a half a million Iraqi

children since 1990. Who will put the U.S. government

on trials for war crimes?

The capture of Saddam Hussein does not mean freedom

for the Iraqi people. Only the right to

self-determination and self-governance will ensure

their liberation. The attacks on Iraq were because he "had weapons of Mass Destruction" and not just the recent ones, but all of them since Bush Sr. Now that we know that he in fact did not have these weapons, 3000 children were murdered by our sanctions (mainly medicine for children) every month for over 8 years. You add up just the Iraq people we have killed (not including all the other nations in the world) we have killed many times more than Saddam, even when he was doing these things (prior to 1998). Which leads to my second point, human rights groups, who are critical of any mistreatment of the people, clearly state that there have not been these tortures or killings since 1998. And why attack Iraq, a non-secular country who no longer tortures and kills, when the neighbors on both sides have a much worse record. Women in Saudi Arabia still have to cover their faces and Iran kills people who write books. And no, I am not saying attack them, only pointing out that this is the stupidest justification used, unfortunately it is the only one the right has that hasn\u2019t been completely debunked by the facts. Lastly, the people of Iraq have been told (by our government) that any protesters will be killed on sight. Not even Saddam was that radical. We have concentration camps in Cuba and American citizens being held by or government without lawyer, charges, or any of the other so called rights in our constitution. Maybe you should open up your eyes and do a little research since it is obvious that you listen to Fox News and don't do any independent research. You will be embarrassed by how gullible you are and how easily you are fooled after you do.","author":"1Planet1People","parent_id":98100,"mime_type":"text\/plain","created":"2003-12-20 21:16:06","modified":"2013-11-11 00:28:08","fileurl":""},{"id":98124,"heading":"Iraqi position","article":"Actually, the Iraqis may be happy to see Hussein gone, but they will be even happier when the US leaves.
