The airport has been a stronghold for the occupation forces, serving as a hub for it's military operations as well as the area where Iraqi POW's are held. It is one of the most heavily guarded and fortified areas under the occupation. Iraqi guerillas have long attempted breech the occupation's hold on the airport with repeated attempts to shoot down military aircraft, but today's attack was their first success. The target was a civilian\/commercial plane, and all three onboard landed safely without harm. Other civilian\/commercial flights are considering cancellation of all flights to occupied Iraq.
