As Schwarzenegger Opens His New Headquarters
Women’s Groups Will Protest His Record of
Misogynistic Comments and Acts of Sexual Harassment
Candidate for Governor to be "Pink Slipped Before he Gets the Job"

SANTA MONICA, CA (Sept. 4)—Women’s groups angered by actor and candidate for governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger’s history of "degrading" comments about women and reported acts of sexual harassment will protest stating at 3:00 PM this Friday, as he opens his new campaign headquarters at 1338 4th Street in Santa Monica. According to our sources the elusive candidate is scheduled to be there at 3:00 PM.

WHEN: 3:00- 5:00 PM FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5TH
WHERE: 1338 4TH STREET (between Santa Monica Blvd. and Arizona)
PUBLIC PARKING STRUCTURE NEXT DOOR
At the Opening of Schwarzenegger’s NEW Campaign Headquarters in
Downtown Santa Monica, CA

WHY: "Schwarzenegger's blatant misogyny and acts of sexual harassment cannot be protected as it is in Hollywood," said Jodie Evans, one of the protest organizers and co-founder of Code Pink. "We will let Arnold know that his statements and actions, which he may conveniently deny now, are unacceptable from a person running for the Governor of the state of California."

"Arnold hasn't learned to be responsible with his star power -- what would happen if he were Governor?" Evans continued, "His record of disrespect and constant objectification of women is not what we need in Sacramento."

"If Schwarzenegger thinks he can erase recent history by going on Oprah to boost his appeal to women voters, he is sadly mistaken," said Karen Pomer, an organizer of the protest and founder of the Rainbow Sisters Project. "We don't have to ‘turn the clock back’ to the ‘70s to find degrading comments he has made about women or reports of sexual harassment. We just have to look at his words and deeds of the past couple of years or even in the last few months."

In June, CODE PINK delivered an enormous Pink Slip (banner) to President G. W. Bush outside the Century Plaza Hotel where he was speaking at a fund-raiser, Friday's action is a continuation of CODE PINK's campaign to keep "Bush's foothold out of California. Other recipients of CODE PINK slips include Sen. Hilary Clinton for her support of Iraq war and FCC Chairman Michael Powell for support of FCC rules change to further media consolidation.

Joining CODE PINK this time will be the Feminist Majority, the Rainbow Sisters Project, Women for Peace, and The Women's Network.

Schwarzenegger's Track Record on Women:

From an interview with Schwarzenegger: "As much as when you see a blonde with great tits and a great ass, you say to yourself, 'Hey, she must be stupid or must have nothing else to offer', which maybe is the case many times. But then again there is the one that is as smart as her breasts look, great as her face looks, beautiful as her whole body looks gorgeous, you know, so people are shocked." Esquire Magazine July 2003

Schwarzenegger described a scene in his new movie, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. "I saw this toilet bowl. How many times do you get away with this -- to take a woman, grab her upside down, and bury her face in a toilet bowl? I wanted to have something floating there." Entertainment Weekly July 11, 2003

"Arnold came to London in 2000, his behavior led insiders to label him ‘the octopus’. When TV presenter Anna Richardson interviewed Arnold for Big Screen at the Dorchester Hotel, he asked her pointblank if her breasts were real. He then pulled her onto his knee, circled her nipple with his finger, squeezed it and announced: ‘Yeah, they are real.’ And when Denise Van Outen interviewed him for The Big Breakfast, he slapped her bottom then brushed his arm against her breast. Afterwards, he smirked: ‘It was a handful. I never know if my wife’s watching. I’ll tell her it was a stuntman.’

"During the production of the 1991 mega-blockbuster Terminator 2: Judgment Day, a producer on that film recalls Arnold’s emerging from his trailer one day and noticing a fortyish female crew member, who was wearing a silk blouse. Arnold went up to the woman, put his hands inside her blouse, and proceeded to pull her breasts out of her bra. Another observer says, "I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. This woman’s nipples were exposed, and here’s Arnold and a few of his clones laughing. I went after the woman, who had run to the shelter of a nearby trailer. She was hysterical but refused to press charges for fear of losing her job. It was disgusting."

"Once in Gold's--the gym in Venice, California, where all the top guys train--there was a black girl who came out naked. Everybody jumped on her and took her upstairs, where we all got together," said Arnold. Asked by interviewer Manso if he was talking about a "gang bang," Schwarzenegger answered "Yes."
