If women don't have even enough time to do their own make-up anymore, is this really indicative of hard economic times or possibly just misplaced priorities?
Yesterday I was not aware that women could have make-up permanently applied to their faces, saving them copious amounts of time for more pressing concerns. Then I came across the Permanent Cosmetics by Diane website (http://www.cosmeticsbydiane.com), in addition to other similarly themed sites, and realized that this craze is really catching on. While women may still desire cosmetic perfection, they do not want to spend more time on their faces than men. Yes, it would seem that permanent make-up is yet another blow for women's lib aiming to further erase the distinction between women and men.
As I was comtemplating all the ramifications of this, my wife suggested I have it done. Of course, I thought she was joking. But she was completely serious. My bleached out lips could use some color, she said. My eyes could benefit from an enhanced sense of drama.
I made an appointment.
When I return, I will report back on my experience and further contemplate the desirability of sexual differences of any kind.
