And then blamed that “darn goof” on George Tenet of the CIA.

George Bush assured us before the war that there was 100% certainty that Iraq had “weapons of mass destruction”. It now turns out that he stated this in spite of the fact that he apparently had 0% knowledge of where those weapons were. (And wouldn’t it be highly suspicious, after all of this time, if the “special” Pentagon team that is looking for them now suddenly “found” some.) Is this just another “darn goof” and, if so, whom will George Bush blame for this one?

George Bush played the hotdog some weeks back and flew onto the deck of an aircraft carrier in a fighter jet and declared to the world that the war in Iraq was over. Since then, American soldiers have been dying in Iraq at the rate of about one a day in what top military officials now call a gorilla war. Apparently Bush’s declaration was just another “darn goof” although we do not know yet whom he will blame it on.

In response to the daily assault on American soldiers in Iraq, Bush, in a national speech, taunted the enemies of our soldiers and told them to “bring ‘em on”. And so they have, stepping up attacks to the point that they are now shooting missiles at our planes in what is rapidly becoming another Vietnam. (Perhaps we should start to call it “Viet-raq”). This appears to be yet another “darn goof”. Bush has not advised us whom he will blame for this one either.

George Bush recently admitted that the war in “Viet-raq” would cost nearly twice what he estimated when he was pushing us into war. Yup, another “darn goof”. He has also presented the country with budget estimates that project unheard of deficits. This just three years after we were enjoying record surpluses. No doubt it took a lot of “darn goofs” to squander all of that money in such a short time. One such “darn goof” was insisting on a massive tax cut aimed at the wealthy (so that they can invest more money in companies that close American plants and move jobs out of the country) during a time of war and recession. We will no doubt be advised who, other than George Bush of course, is responsible for all of those “darn goofs” somewhere down the road.

Then again, maybe we will not be advised of the what, how, why, and who of all of these “darn goofs” that have descended on America since George Bush took office. George Bush shares information with the American people on a “need to know” basis and he doesn’t seem to believe that we need to know much. (But then, what should we expect from a man who thinks that the right to vote and the right to have your vote counted are two separate concepts.)

Personally, I think the American people need to make certain that they march to the polls in 2004, and like the majority of us did in 2000, cast their vote against George Bush. Giving that man and his cronies four more years would be a “darn goof” that this country can ill afford.

Dan'l
