AEI is a far-right think tank, whose current fellows\r\ninclude former Republican government officials, as well as many corporate\r\nexecutives. These include Newt Gingrich, Richard Perle, and former fellow Ken\r\nLay, of Enron. Twenty former AEI fellows are now employed by the Bush\r\nAdministration, or \"embedded\" with the government. Richard\r\nBehan, Alternet wrote that AEI, \"crafted or influenced virtually the\r\nentire agendas of both domestic and foreign policy for the George W. Bush\r\nAdministration.\"
\r\n
\r\nAEI literally \"houses\" the notorious Project for the New American\r\nCentury (PNAC), and the Defence Policy Board, or lots of \"family\r\nties\". Recently PNAC formed the NGO \"Committee\r\nfor the Liberation of Iraq\" which lobbied heavily for the invasion of\r\nIraq. AEI has a \"race\r\ndesk\" charged with the popularization of unscientific and biological\r\ndeterminist racial \"theories\", including AEI fellow Charles Murray, of\r\n\"Bell Curve\", (genetic explanations for poverty in communities of\r\ncolor), and Dinesh D’Souza, of \"The End of Racism\"\r\n(African-Americans should stop using institutional racism as an 'excuse' for\r\ntheir 'failure' to achieve what whites and Asians have achieved.) The AEI promotes\r\nOriana Fallaci's racist book The\r\nRage and the Pride: “They breed too much…At least half of the Moslem\r\nwomen you see in our streets are pregnant or surrounded by streams of\r\nchildren.” Additionally, AEI held a seminar against funding for education,\r\ncalled \"Are Teachers Paid Too Little... or Too Much?\", the purpose of\r\nwhich was to say that teachers are paid too much.
\r\n
\r\nTomorrow's press conference will focus on AEI's allegations that NGOs wield to\r\nmuch power in Washington. It is set to coincide with AEI's seminar\r\nNongovernmental Organizations: The Growing Power of an Unelected Few.The press\r\nconference will occur at 8:30 AM in front of AEI's officeat 1150 17th St. NW,\r\nWashington, DC
\r\n\r\n \r\n\n","contact":"","link":"","address":"","phone":"","parent_id":0,"mime_type":"text\/html","summary":"pointer ","numcomment":0,"fileurl":"\/uploads\/","filesize":null,"article_url":"\/news\/2003\/06\/64319.php"},"attachments":[],"comments":[]}
