April 24 is the official Day of Remembrance for the Armenian Genocide. March & Rally at Hollywood & Hobart Thursday, April 24, at 10:00 AM to remember the Genocide and protest US Aid to Turkey.
Between 1915 and 1923, up to 1.5 million Armenians living under the Ottoman Empire were killed in a vicious ethnic cleansing progrom initiated by the Turks. This created a diaspora of Armenian ex-patriates to all corners of the world, one of the largest concentrations of which are here in Los Angeles.
The Armenian community has been campaigning for years for official recognition of the Armenian Genocide, which the Turkish government has denied since it happened.
There will be two Armenian Genocide marches in Little Armenia on April 24th.
Please participate in at least one of these marches.
10:00am - 12:30pm (United Young Armenians)
The first will begin at the intersection of Hollywood and Hobart Blvd. and end with a rally at the intersection of Sunset and Hobart.
12:30pm (United Commemorative Committee)
The second will begin at St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church on Alexandria Avenue and go to the Palladium parking lot on Argyle for a rally.
