And with American Imperialism there was a greater dilution of culture.  By Philipinos cannot blame the US for the entirety of their problems.  If not for the United States, the flip nation would have probably remained a colony or under the direct influence of Spain.  The US IS out of the Philipines, but the Philipinos want the US there.  Without its support in terms of economics and culture the Philipines would completely lack identity and focus as a country.
