If Bush chooses to launch this unjust war we will walk out of classes and turn our campuses into center of antiwar protest.

CAN believes that all opponents of this war—whether students, faculty, staff or members of the community—must plan now to make their opposition known when the bombs start falling. To give a voice to antiwar students everywhere, CAN is coordinating campus-based actions for Day X—the day after a full-scale U.S. or UN war on Iraq begins.

CAN encourages actions of all shapes and sizes—at many schools, walk-outs and student strikes have been planned; at others, activists are organizing speak-outs, rallies, marches, vigils, and \"die-ins\" in protest of the war. For a complete list of Day X activities, please visit our Day X page at www.antiwarnetwork.org .

CAN is committed to defending any students who experience consequences for the actions that they take on Day X. We strongly believe in the right of freedom of speech and stand firmly opposed to any and all crackdowns on civil liberties. CAN is currently preparing an emergency defense campaign in the event that any students are reprimanded for protesting the war on this day.

CAN made history in late February when 350 student delegates and others representing 100 campuses met in Chicago to launch an activist student-based and student-led national movement to oppose Bush’s war on Iraq—whether approved by the UN or not; to demand money for schools and not for war; to call for end to the racist crackdown on civil liberties; and to demand an end to the sanctions that have killed over one million Iraqis in the last 12 years.

\n","contact":"","link":"http:\/\/www.antiwarnetwork.org","address":"","phone":"","parent_id":0,"mime_type":"text\/plain","summary":"On Day X: wak out...speak out...march...take action against Bush's bloody war!","numcomment":0,"fileurl":"\/uploads\/","filesize":null,"article_url":"\/news\/2003\/03\/36469.php"},"attachments":[],"comments":[]}
