A little preparation now can help bring you a LOT of comfort on 3\/15!\r\n\r\n(1)  If possible, wear\/bring a waterproof poncho\/jacket (and waterproof pants\/trainers, if you have them!).  Keeping your body dry will prevent heat loss and keep you warm.\r\n\r\n       If you don't have waterproof jaket\/pants, bring a few big heavy duty 40 gallon plastic trash bags - you can tear arm\/neck holes and help stay dry!\r\n\r\n(2)   Wear a wool sweater and - if possible - avoid cotton clothing (especially avoid denim pants, if possible).  The reason: cotton will soak up water like a wick, and your body will lose heat all day long.  Hypothermia is not fun!\r\n\r\n(3)    Please keep your head warm!  In cool, wet weather, we radiate 30% of our body heat into the air through our scalps.\r\n         Wear a woolen hat or cap (or buy a cheap one, if you can).  If you can't get a wool cap\/hat, synthetic fiber (nylon, rayon, polyester) is better than cotton.\r\n\r\n(4)     Please, please, please wear waterproof shoes\/boots (if you have them) and wool socks (if you have them).\r\n          If you don't have wool socks, synthetic fibers are better than cotton....\r\n\r\n(5)     If possible, bring a change of clothes (especially socks\/shoes!) wrapped in waterproof plastic bags...\r\n\r\n(6)     If you have a medical condition, please bring any medications you may need.......\r\n\r\n(7)     For more detailed info on demo\/protest health care, please check out the Black  Cross Health Collective at  http:\/\/www.blackcrosscollective.org\/                     ","author":"kirk james murphy, md","parent_id":35300,"mime_type":"text\/plain","created":"2003-03-16 03:52:25","modified":"2003-03-16 03:52:25","fileurl":""}]}
