Here was my letter:\r\n\r\n******\r\nMarch 2, 2003\r\n\r\n\r\nTo: President Abdullah G\u00fcl\r\n\r\n\r\nYour Excellency,\r\n\r\nThe great majority of Canadians are disgusted by the Bush administration's\r\nschemes to sabotage international justice and its unilateral push towards war\r\nin the Middle East.   Today, the Canadian movement to find peaceful solutions\r\nand to resist American belligerance has been greatly encouraged by the\r\nexample of Turkey.\r\n\r\nCanadians know what it is like to be under intense American diplomatic\r\npressure.  The Free Trade agreements with the U.S. (FTA and NAFTA) which we made\r\nthe mistake of signing have tied our economies to that of the U.S. and have\r\ngiven that country huge and constant leverage over our own.  Any sovereign\r\ndecisions made by Canada which go against the will of American leaders can now\r\nentail major economic repurcussions.  And as I understand it, Turkey, being the\r\nbeneficiary of large amounts of American aid, has also become vulnerable to\r\nAmerican manipulations.\r\n\r\nBut this weekend has shown that hopes for a world based on international\r\njustice are still very much alive.  Our Prime Minister made it clear that U.S.\r\nPresident George W. Bush cannot command Regime Changes at will... and the\r\nParliament of Turkey has made it clear that the Turkish people cannot be bribed\r\ninto turning over their territory to be used as a staging ground for American\r\nImperialism.\r\n\r\nToday Canadians are saluting Turkish Parliamentarians - as well as our Prime\r\nMinister - for putting integrity, international justice, and good sense to\r\nthe forefront.  This is a proud moment of international solidarity. \r\n\r\nKutlamalar Turkey!\r\n\r\nName\r\nAddress....","author":"Peace & Justice","parent_id":32463,"mime_type":"text\/plain","created":"2003-03-04 01:08:54","modified":"2013-11-10 23:48:46","fileurl":""},{"id":33031,"heading":"UN \/ LEADER'S CONTACTS","article":"\r\n. . \r\n\r\nCONTACT INFO: \r\n\r\nhttp:\/\/sf.indymedia.org\/news\/2003\/02\/1573568.php\r\n\r\n.\r\n\r\n.\r\n\r\n","author":"..","parent_id":32463,"mime_type":"text\/plain","created":"2003-03-05 06:47:02","modified":"2003-03-05 06:47:02","fileurl":""},{"id":33038,"heading":"Another Turkish Site","article":"http:\/\/istanbul.indymedia.org\/\r\n.\r\n.","author":".","parent_id":32463,"mime_type":"text\/plain","created":"2003-03-05 07:28:41","modified":"2003-03-05 07:28:41","fileurl":""}]}
