Protesters will be asked to gather at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine at 1 pm. The March will proceed down Hollywood Blvd to the Armed Forces Recruiting Station at the intersection of Sunset and La Brea where there will be a rally at 3 pm

LA to Join 500 Cities Worldwide for February 15th Day of Protest

Saturday's Massive March and Rally for Peace in Hollywood Begins 1PM

LOS ANGELES, February 13, 2003- The No War On Iraq! Coalition today announced plans for the massive anti-war march and rally on Saturday, February 15th. Protesters will be asked to gather at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine at 1 pm. The March will proceed down Hollywood Blvd to the Armed Forces Recruiting Station at the intersection of Sunset and La Brea where there will be a rally at 3 pm. The rally and march will coincide with protests in more than 500 cities worldwide in a coordinated day of opposition to the Bush Administration's plans for war against Iraq. Saturday's Hollywood march and rally is expected to be one of the largest anti-war demonstrations in the U.S.

Among those speaking the rally are: actor/activist Martin Sheen, star of the television drama West Wing; Congresswoman Maxine Waters; Congresswoman Diane Watson; Vietnam Veteran Ron Kovic, subject of the award-winning film, "Born On The Fourth Of July"; actor David Clennon, star of the television drama The Agency; Miguel Contreras, Executive Secretary -Treasurer, Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO; John Perez, President, United Teachers of Los Angeles; State Assembly member Jackie Goldberg; Los Angeles City Council member Ed Reyes,Rabbi Emeritus Allen Freehling of University Synagogue and several high School and college students who have been organizing walkouts in schools throughout Los Angeles. Performers include Michelle Shocked, Burning Star, and Seven Warriors.

"This Saturday, Los Angeles will join tens of millions of people all around America and all around the world, in saying 'no' to a new war on Iraq," said James Lafferty, an organizer of Saturday's Los Angeles protest and Executive Director of the National Lawyer's Guild of Los Angeles. "The list of speakers and sponsors of the Los Angeles march and rally demonstrates the breadth of religious, labor, civic, student, political, and ethnic diversity in the peace movement." He continued, "When we march on Saturday, we will also be marching in solidarity with the people of New York, who will be marching in defiance of City officials who have denied them a permit to march through the streets of New York to a rally planned at the United Nations Plaza."

On February 15th, anti-war rallies will be staged in over 500 cities around the world. California cities include: Santa Monica, Long Beach, Santa Barbara, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, Tehachapi, Fresno, San Jose, Santa Cruz ,San Diego, Nevada City, Orange, Vallejo, Palm Desert, Sonora,, Bakersfield and San Francisco (Feb. 16).

Nationally and internationally the cities include: Amsterdam, Antwerp, Athens, Bangkok, Barcelona, Beirut, Belfast, Berlin, Berne, Brussels, Budapest, Cairo, Cape Town, Chicago, Copenhagen, Detroit, Dublin, Edmonton, Glasgow, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Islamabad, Istanbul, Jakarta, Johannesburg, Lisbon, London, Luxembourg, Madrid, Manila, Melbourne, Mexico City, Montreal, Moscow, New York, Oslo, Ottawa, Paris, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Prague, Rome, San Juan, Sao Paulo, Seattle, Seoul, Stockholm, Sydney, Tel-Aviv, Tokyo, Toronto, Vancouver, Vienna and Warsaw.
