Los Angeles CA ---- January 31, 2003 On the eve of the Lunar New Year, suspended Assi workers and community supporters took to the streets. The Korean Immigrant Workers Advocates (KIWA) has been in a struggle with Assi bosses for over a year to rehire workers suspended during an attempt to unionize.

Lunar New falls on Feb. 1st. a major day for the Korean community. Lunar New Year is traditionally celebrated with a procession of drummers who go from house to house and business to business stamping out spirits and bringing in good luck.
KIWA moves through the streets, drumming the message of immigrant worker rights.
