It was a massive outpouring of opposition to the Vietnam war but also a call for civil and human rights for Chicanos. The mass demonstration was attacked by law enforcement officers, resulting in the deaths of three people. Commemorating the Moratorium, AVE 50 STUDIO in Highland Park Los Angeles, will be hosting a number of important cultural events to \"strengthen our commitment to social justice and peace today.\" Opening on Aug 23rd will be an exhibition of historic Photos and Posters, and also a day of the dead style alter to honor Angel Diaz, Ruben Salazar, and Lynn Ward (the three killed that day). At 7:30 in the evening (8-23), a short film (I Am Joaquin) will be screened that documents the history surrounding the Chicano Moratorium). On Sunday the 25th, the Chicano Writers\/Authors\/Media Presentation Forum will hold a discussion from 2-5 at the Gallery.

The number of events planned as part of this important commemoration are so wide and varied that I can't list them all here.
