{"article":{"id":17667,"heading":"Rally vs. Inglewood Police Friday","author":"Chang Links","created":"2002-07-12 03:03:59","modified":"2003-03-14 03:52:21","last_modified":"Fri, 14 Mar 2003 10:52:21","article":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>MASSIVE DEMONSTRATION AT INGLEWOOD POLICE STATION!  <br><br> Friday July 12, @ 10 am.  <br>  <br> located at: 1 Manchester Blvd. (Just East of the 405 fwy)  <br><br> Community residents became outraged after seeing video footage of Inglewood police officers beating a black  16-year-old. Police slammed the teenager on the hood of the police car, and punched him in the face.  <br><br> This continuous brutality by the L.A.Sheriff's Dept. and the Inglwoood Police Department PD has communities outraged. At a press conference\/rally on July 9th, community residents, mothers and fathers expressed outrage as they condemned the injustices that haunt us every day on the streets of this police state.  <br>  <br> One women, a mother and resident of Inglewood expressed said \"No more fighting fire with water! It's time to fight fire with fire!\".  <br><br> After the press conference, a marched pursued into the city hall and up onto the 9th floor where the council  <br>  <br> room was taken over with loud chants and angry  <br>  <br> demonstrators waiting to hear Major speak on behalf of the police beating. The major expressed 'mourn' on  <br>  <br> behalf of the Incident and stated the police had no  <br>  <br> justification for their brutal acts. However this did  <br>  <br> not satisfy many angry community residents as their  <br>  <br> outrage couldn't be cooled off by another repetitive  <br>  <br> act of \"mourn\" by a city politician. One man  <br>  <br> confronted the Major as he was leaving, calling him  <br>  <br> out for his false character as someone representing  <br>  <br> the black community, and \"house-negro\" behavior. \"Fuck you!\" he said. \"I just done serving 9 years in jail!\".  <br>  <br> The man complained that the major wasn't doing  <br>  <br> anything but simply making a speech to get attention.  <br>  <br> Police brutality continues on daily on the streets of  <br>  <br> Inglewood and Los Angeles and another speech by the mayor isn't going to cut it for many of those in the  <br>  <br> community who are still in outrage. \"I'm telling  <br>  <br> everyone not to vote for your ass anymore!\" the man  <br>  <br> told the major before he exited the floor in an  <br>  <br> elevator. \"They've been attacking us for over 400  <br>  <br> years\" said another man. \"this country, america is the  <br>  <br> most violent country in the world\".  <br><br> The crowed then proceeded out to the front of the  <br>  <br> building where the rally ended and people dispersed  <br>  <br> peacefully.  <br><br> COME FOR MASSIVE DEMONSTRATION @ INGLEWOOD POLICE  <br>  <br> STATION!  <br><br> OUR STREETS HAVE BEEN HIJACKED BY AN ARMY THAT CONTINUES TO REPRESS OUR OMMUNITIES EVERY SINGLE DAY!  <br>  <br> IT'S TIME TO FIGHT BACK!  <br>  <br> STOP THE BRUTALITY!
