The latest Shortwave Report (January 25) is up at the website http:\/\/www.outfarpress.com\/outfarpress\/shortwave.shtml<\/a> in both broadcast quality (13.4MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.4MB) (29:22) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (Real Player, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.

This week's show features stories from Radio Deutsche Welle, Radio Netherlands, the Voice of Russia, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From Germany- a court in Belgium will decide on war crime charges against Ariel Sharon by March 6; British politicians are angry about Rumsfeld's response to their concern about the prisoners in Cuba; German political leaders are joining human rights organizations in demanding that the US consider the prisoners POWs; a press review from Monday night.

From Netherlands- Bush intends to increase the US military budget by $48 billion; the US is trying to play down the treatment of prisoners in Guantanamo, and Amnesty International discusses why this is happening; Tuesday's terrorist attack in Calcutta raises tension between India and Pakistan.

From Russia- a commentary about how the US dropping the ABM Treaty may destroy the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty; the Russian Foreign Ministry is speaking out about the US plan to extend the war into Iraq.

From Cuba- US warplanes bomb S. Iraq on Monday; the Columbian President wants US soldiers to help protect infrastructures like oil pipelines.

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station.
