He mentions that he has been a victim of a ferocious difamation campaign in Italy regarding the brutal police actions during  last months G-8 Summit in Genoa. Standing in solidarity with the police and still claiming that the police had done a good job in Genoa, Scajola also mentioned that he wasn't resigning due to political pressure. Berlusconi has accepted the resignation in order to keep his right wing coalition intact.
