\r\nBe prepared<\/b>\r\n<\/p>
\r\nThe first thing out of towners should do is be prepared. Print off guides\r\nand maps from the web before you come down here. The less time that local\r\norganizers have to spend on orienting people is vital time that can be \r\nspent on critical problems that come up at the last minute.\r\n<\/p>

\r\nWhat else?\r\n<\/p>
\r\n1) Spread the word. Put up flyers everywhere. Organize a teach-in at the\r\nlocal college. Talk to high school students. Flyer workplaces. \r\n<\/p>

\r\n2) Contact the local media and ask them if they want to do a local angle\r\non the protests. \r\n<\/p>
\r\n3) Get your literature ready before you get to Washington. The cops shut\r\ndown Kinkos last time (A16) to disrupt us. \r\n<\/p>
\r\n4) If you aren't going to Washington, prepare for support from your \r\ncommunity. Be prepared to do solidarity rallies for those in jail, letter\r\nwriting to local newspapers, and posting to websites. \r\n<\/p>
\r\n5) Organize your affinity group and plan some actions that can be done \r\nonce you hit the ground in Washington. Stay tight and stay secure. \r\n<\/p>
\r\n6) Get your organization, your union local, or other local group to draft\r\nand submit a solidarity statement with the days of action. If you are \r\npart of an anarchist group or collective, consider endorsing the Anti-\r\nCapitalist Convergence. \r\n7) Talk to your neighbors and family about what you are doing.\r\n<\/p>
\r\n8) Keep building resistance to capitalism in your community. You can \r\nbuild this local community of resistance through several methods:\r\n<\/p>
\r\n1) organize alternative cultural activities;
\r\n2) build counter-institutions;
\r\n3) engage in popular education; and
\r\n4) raise hell and create trouble for the local capitalists and their \r\nlackeys.\r\n<\/p>
\r\n<\/p>
\r\nThe methods used for #4 can range from organizing a workplace into a \r\nunion to conducting a campaign against local slumlords. Remember that the\r\naim of anarchism is NOT to get people to join one big movement, rather to\r\nempower people to use the methodology of anarchism to liberate themselves\r\nfrom this fucking capitalist system.

\r\nAnti-Capitalist Convergence Principles of Unity<\/b>\r\n<\/p>
\r\n(These are as adapted from CLAC and CASA's principles of unity. Two \r\ngroups that organized for the FTAA protests in Quebec City.) \r\n<\/p>
\r\n*We are opposed to capitalism. We fundamentally reject a social and \r\neconomic system based on the private ownership of the means of\r\nproduction\r\nand exchange. We reject a system driven by an exploitative logic that \r\nsees human beings as human capital, ecosystems as natural resources, and\r\nculture as simply a commodity. We reject the idea that the world is only\r\nvaluable in terms of profit, competition and efficiency. \r\n<\/p>
\r\n*We reject the ideology of neo-liberalism, whereby corporations and \r\ninvestors are exempt from all political and social measures that \r\ninterfere with their so-called \"success\". \r\n<\/p>
\r\n*We are anti-imperialist, opposed to patriarchy, and denounces all forms\r\nof exploitation and oppression. We assert a worldview based on the \r\nrespect of our differences and the autonomy of groups, individuals and \r\npeoples. Our objective is to globalize our networks of resistance to \r\ncorporate rule. \r\n<\/p>
\r\n*Respecting a diversity of tactics, we support the use of a variety of \r\ncreative initiatives, ranging between popular education to direct\r\naction.\r\n<\/p>
\r\n*We are autonomous, decentralized and non-hierarchical. We encourage the\r\ninvolvement of anyone who accepts this statement of principles. We also \r\nencourage the participation of all individuals in working groups, in \r\naccord with their respective political affiliations. \r\n<\/p>
\r\n*We organize with a regard for security culture, keeping in mind the\r\nconstant repression and infiltration of political movements by the\r\nstate.\r\n<\/p>
