The Italian government has acted undemocratically by suspending the Schengen treaty that enables all citizens of the EU to move freely within the member states. At this very moment all foreigners including EU citizens must show a valid passport to the Italian border authorities. This is a major breach to democracy and civic liberties. Also excessive police behaviour has already started in Genoa and in other Italian cities, many private homes have been randomly targeted for fony searches where people are being harrassed for no apparent reasons. Of course police brutality and excessive use of force is well expected during next weekend, recent Summits have shown this tendency and there is no way we should think that the opposite should occur.

Therefore it would be important that we mobilize worldwide in solidarity with our brothers and sisters present in Genoa and also in respect for democracy and the rule of law against the Italian government and interests. We shall by all means direct several boycott and protest actions aimed at Italian authorities and companies. Flood all embassies and consulates with protest e-mails, faxes and telephone calls on answering machines. Boycott all Italian companies and products. Also vigils can be made in front of embassies and consulates and other Italian organizations. Please use judgment and common sense in your actions, are totally excluded of course all Italian nationals travelling abroad as well as our friends from Italian origin that live in our communities. Let's wish us a great and succesfull boycott action !!!<\/p>\n","contact":"karladomeit@hotmail.com","link":"","address":"Canada","phone":"","parent_id":0,"mime_type":"text\/plain","summary":"Italy is hosting the G-8 Summit next weekend (july 20-22) in the city of Genoa.
