Entering only its second week of being online, the Headwaters Forest pages are beginning to fill in, allowing for more energy to be spent in the other directions the site must take: arctic oil, clean energy, organic foods, and other forestry issues throughout the west coast.

MountainRiver.org aims to bring together activists from their respective fields to form a collective of viable information to educate and raise the level of awareness among the public. Right now, Pacific Lumber continues to drop trees, continues to risk activists' lives with their illegal felling pracitices with protesters present. And the sheriff's deputies are doing nothing. Yet this story makes no headlines. Luna's cut made headlines, but just as quickly as it surfaced, it has disappeared. National Geographic recently published a short piece titled Ancient Redwoods Preserved, and this is entirely not the case. The Headwaters Reserve is but 7,500 acres which will be surround by clear cuts if these activists were not in the hills. and in fact PL doesn't mention that if it were not for the diligent actions on the part of activists over the past decade, the Headwaters Reserve wouldn't exist because the trees would have been logged already.

Help the movement which could very well become a national phenomenon to save our open space and ancient forests. 1.5 million Americans sent in comments support the roadless area initiative, and the concept of preserving the wild remains of what once was an exceptionally diverse wild country.

http://www.mountainriver.org

Sign the guestbook, post a message on the new community wire, or join the chat room for a bit of health and fitness blab, or email me with information, photos, background data, resource listings for an issue you're interested in, or an issue I have posted by need more data on. my address is highsierrabum@aol.com.

Thanks and spread the word about the site if you can.

-dave

http://www.mountainriver.org

A point Julia Butterfly raised eloquently in her recently published book says baically that no shes not a part of any group or organization she just cares about the trees, well...
