The LAPD displays some of the most blatent examples of the state\/police violence and terror so essential to the maintainance of the american status quo, but the People of Los Angeles consistently display the bravery and conviction to stand up to state violence and change america. One of the protestors told me that they try to soround you by 10 so they can arrest you.. they just fire at will hitting people in the face, back, legs, arms, knees. One of these days, sooner or later, we are gunna fire back at them and see how they like it. When people sat down during the cops riot, they still moved forward. I couldn't even sit down cus I couldn't bend my knee. People had to get all of the kids together, and protect them because the cops kept firing their f*cking weapons. \r\n\r\nNow we see why this system want's to disarm the people. By their own standards, they were a success, because they prevented property damage, and created a militarized situation where people were afraid.  The quickest path to \"success\" would be to shoot a few people, and intimidate the rest.\r\n\r\nI honestly don't think they had plans to avoid shooting.  I'm sure some of them wanted to \"get revenge\" for the DNC, where, in many accounts, they came off as violent stormtroopers with itchy trigger fingers.  They had the area pre-cleared, so that there was no real traffic, and so they could carry on with the harrassment.\r\n\r\nWhen it was plain that protestors had \"violated\" the permit, they must have thought that they were free to do whatever they wanted to gain compliance.  This, frankly, is immoral.  The spirit of the law, for freedom of speech, should prevail, and the letter of the law (the permit) should be flexible.
