I got caught outside a police line just outside of Pershing Square. The police were making way for the parade which was readying to leave the square.
As I watched the parade marching out of Pershing Square, all of the police's walky talkies burst out, "To all police: Everything is under control. You can go home." I thought about the impications of this as the parade went on. Just then, a chant started rising out of the parade: "Oink Oink Bang Bang, It's the same old thing everyday."
For a moment I saw a strange expression wash across one of the police's faces, and I wondered what she was asking herself.
