Within minutes, police were opening fire on the crowd with weapons of war. Rubber bullets and foam batons struck people in the face. The first hit were the photographers. One was driven from a ladder then shot when he fell to the ground.

Outside the Shadow Convention and Broadcast Center for Freespeech TV, the L.A. Police announced there was a bomb. The convention was halted and a nationwide broadcast was prevented.

On April 15, the police utilized a strategy of preemptive arrests. They swept down on a midday march when some of the participants rattled some metal grating. The first person arrested was a legal observer. Forty four other felony arrests followed. After cordoning off the media and removing the arrestees, the commander shows a can of lighter fluid to justify the forty-five arrests.

Later that day a bicycle ride is misdirected and another few dozen arrested. In the greatest act of property destruction committed this week, dozens of bicycles are piled on top of each other and forced onto the bed of a single truck.

On April 16th the LAPD arrests some alleged jaywalkers in front of the activists organizing space. When activists come out to observe at least eighty police in full riot gear materialize.

What is happening in Los Angeles is part an escalating and ominous trend of over the top paramilitary actions against domestic populations, in this case protesters.

Clark L. Staten of Emergency Response Institute and military theorist Martin Van Creveld refer to this use of paramilitary police forces against urban populations as "asymmetrical warfare." It's something we're going to see a lot more of. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, the military industrial complex, the back bone of the U.S. Economy, is actively retooling to wage all out war on civilian populations, both foreign and domestic.

Consider these few facts:

Police are being trained by elite military teams including the Navy Seals and Delta Force.

90% of the U.S. towns with populations of 50,000 have their own SWAT teams

As the military budget is "shrinking" these same funds are being rerouted to National Guard Units. These units are not only becoming better equipped than their military counterparts, they can be used against the U.S. Population.

Weapons manufacturers including Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore Labs are researching and designing new generations of "less lethal weaponry."

These trends are examined in depth in the draft report on the World Trade Organization Ministerial put out by the National Lawyers Guild. Neither the allegation that we periodically send diplomats to Kabul, nor that we help build a phone network and advise on construction of a dam in Afghanistan, nor that we have signed an agreement on economic and technical assistance with the Taliban, has any truth in it.

As a neighbor of Afghanistan, China naturally follows the developments in that country with concern. I don’t know if the person had a religion or not but you cant help but love someone with that kind of optimism to the bitter end.
The WTC has not screwed up all my jokes.
Heard the one about the wounded marine under fire who calls out for medic . to the reply of sorry i don’t make house calls.
Please don’t post me to tell me I’m sick. I know. Anyway breadbombs said it not me.

Poor old Osama my heart goes out to him things, can’t be going at all well . I mean droping leaflets and radios ! ok that’s propaganda but feeding the population is well out of order. Muslims have got to see pictures of starvation on tv or how is his muslim upraising going to get off the ground.
I think there is one motivation of a soldier who is there because s?he is told to be there and another of a soldier that has been ordered to be there and has a personal axe to grind because the enemy has murdered his kin (friends family ect). I think its fair to say there will be that kind of motivation on both sides.

As an armchair general of breadbomer command I am hearing that the military are having a very hard time spinning out bombing days. You can only destroy a target once. I think most independent military annalists would agree that if the military had wanted to they could have taken all the targets in under twenty hours. no worries.
It seems to me that we have a very painful boil that is going to burst whatever we do. so I suppose the critical variable is time and pressure which is under the control of President Bush. Bye the way did anybody notice the bruise above his left eyebrow.

Pure speculation on my part but my guess is that we are trying to spin out the bombing and see if there are any terrorist backlash attacks.
At the same time as vailed threats that any backlash will result in an attack on iraq ; whilst leaving open the question that we might want to do that anyway.
One of my best friends is harry he is only two and a half. He is a bright clever cheerful cheeky boy with what should be a good future in front of him. That’s why Personally I will not be happy until the power of any non nation to mount ground zero type of attacks on me and you is taken away. If you like it please post it on.
it seems to me life are like plants growing. 10% of them receive most of the light and water (money and oil) while The rest get very little drip down effect even in rain storms and sunny days.
To my mind its a garden doomed to fail because with so many sick, impoverished and dying plants its just a matter of time before the top 10% die of diseases transmitted by holiday globe trotters.
i figure the main plants competing for the same resources are The E.U, China, India , the USA and Russia.it seems that there is a bit of a blockage in the water!oil) supply to western countries with main pipeline problems in the Georgia/chetnia region as well as with the Arab controlled pipelines.
some people view the earth as an organism of itself with us as just inessential plants able to adapt to its conditions. perhaps the earth has environmental feedback mechanisms that can get rid of any plants (some say like us) that threatens to choke the whole system.
some years ago i did an environmental study course and one section dealt with energy consumption and resources with very scary implications.
the bottom line was the earth does not have energy resources able to meet the demand of billions more people consuming energy at western population rates. Apparently president Bush wants a mainstream alternative to oil within the next ten years !
meanwhile we have the bin laden pest as well and he seems to have got a lot bigger since 9/11
for example he now has Iraq as a training and combat area to add to Afghanistan (apparently back in full scale drug production now that the tallaban have sort of disappeared. Somehow he has managed to globalise the war very well although i think there have been a lot of home goals scored (its English football analogy where team member kicks the ball into his own team goal :( no smiley)
At my local level their was a political revolution in Coventry city in the June elections with the labour council getting kicked out after donkeys years in power. All three councillors in my part of the city have been replaced by the liberal party and at a national level the labour party is now the smallest local government partly.
none talks very much about it but you get the feeling that Mr Blair (UK prime minister) is a dead man walking till the next general election.
my main 3 biggest UK gripes are as follows
Mr Straw and Blunket (top Government Ministers) talking(and doing) about taking our rights away to the right to trail by jury, secured for us by the rebellion that led to king john being forced to sign the magna Carter centuries ago. (in the name of the fight against terrorism )
sending UK/EU citizens to the USA on request and without evidence against them.(in the name of the fight against terrorism )
the latest law Mr Blair and ministers say they want to pass is a law giving the government the right to lock you up if they think you are a danger to yourself or the public.(in the name of the fight against terrorism ). In practice its a neat way of shutting outspoken people up who want to say it as they see it. or because they are eccentric /bohemian or living unusual lifestyles within a peticular cultural community. (normal in one culture is abnormal in another.
it seems to me that bin laden himself could not have orchestrated such responses to the enemy that is serving him so well because from my perspective he has succeeding in turning the mindset of people like bush/ Blair into terrorising us in the process of eliminating him.
the standard of morality has dropped a lot. bush seems to have made it acceptable to kill people if they are unlucky enough to come into contact with terrorist.
we see it everyday when Americans bomb residential areas in terrorist controlled areas like falluja .
if Americans think they have dodgy characters elected to government spare a thought for us in England.
a Guy called Mandelson has been sent by Blair to a top job in The European parliament. He is popularly known as the prince of darkness who has had to resign from ministerial jobs several times for dodgy money dealings with another labour member of parliament arrested by police who subsequently found heroin in the police van that he was kept in .Mr Robinson The MP involved said the police planted it there !
The Terrorists cover a lot of confusing ground these days one day your a liberator and freedom fighter trained and supported by the USA like Bin laden and the next a terrorist that biting the hand of the USA who natured and nurtured it against the Russians in Afghanistan.
i noted Putins announcement to take the bush example as they have adopted a first pre-emptive strike policy since the school massacre and no doubt that will add to the home goal scores.
hopefully by know Mr bush is starting to realise that getting as barbaric as bin laden and company is to bin ladens advantage especially with the current practice of shooting up the natives along with those defined as terrorists.
My U Turn Proposal to at least maintain our old standard of respect for life wherever it is. (perhaps respect for life and law was just establishment propaganda and spin to camouflage the way things really are for the majority of the worlds population )
that means Iraq type action in places like Rwanda where in 1994 800,000 yes nearly one million people were butchered using machetes and the like in 100 days. i was born in buckavu a small town across lake kivu which borders rowanda in the surrounding forrest mountains are or used to be the gorillas (animals) but from what i hear the area was desimated by refugees and survivors getting firewood. the Kivu lake itself was polluted by the sheer numbers of human bodies in it.
The people who worked in the world trade centre probably do not realise they are part of an African killing process. donkeys years ago i invited a commodity speculator to a west African country to see the effects of how they make their money on peoples everyday life. photographs don't convey the feeling of an African fisherman having to go further and further out to sea because western factory fishing boats suck up the fish like a vacuum cleaner
or the father seeing his family go hungry because commodity speculators (having stockpiled) then reduce the crop price to a level that the farmer cant feed his family on.
when you meet these money people they smile and seem very nice decent people who you would think would;d be horrified at what they are doing if only they could experience how it feels. sadly human nature does not think like that. yes a 9/11 calamity produces the same emotions of grief but that does not enlighten people to think they would not wish it on my worst enemy.
russian people are not thinking wow now we know what its like to have your children killed and it feels the same no matter what your skin pigmentation is or what part of the world your body is adapted to.
sad to say seeing the twin towers come crashing down lifted my African spirit, as i very much saw it as poetic justice in a long overdue payback time. Its the feeling people who have been brutalised get. take for example Chechnya's black widows. they are called black widows because there sons ,fathers have already been killed along with 30,000 children. to me it shows how bad things must be in a population reduced to women as the only combatants left to fight. That surly says something about how desperate their situation is (Muslim or not).
Concluding lament
it does not seem like long ago when Mr Blair used to respect and act in accordance with international law and the united nations. these days we cannot take the rights fought for by our forefathers and mothers for granted.
personally i have already started to batten down my anti calamity self sufficiency hatches (nautical analogy)

called i politics nothing understand which is a russian intercept email transcript of woman and man talking about the war and love . the english is not so good but understandable.
i politics nothing understand
dear john.
I nothing understend at a politic.
Why you so much think about a politic? because this plotic is about the danger to my life and my familly and friends.

I want to think about my happy. After three weeks' bombing, not a single terrorist implicated in the attacks on America has been caught or killed in Afghanistan. Instead, one of the poorest, most stricken nations has been terrorised by the most powerful - to the point where American pilots have run out of dubious "military" targets and are now destroying mud houses, a hospital, Red Cross warehouses, lorries carrying refugees. Unlike the relentless pictures from New York, we are seeing almost nothing of this. Tony Blair has yet to tell us what the violent death of children - seven in one family - has to do with Osama bin Laden. And why are cluster bombs being used? The British public should know about these bombs, which the RAF also uses. They spray hundreds of bomblets that have only one purpose; to kill and maim people. Those that do not explode lie on the ground like landmines, waiting for people to step on them. If ever a weapon was designed specifically for acts of terrorism, this is it. I have seen the victims of American cluster weapons in other countries, such as the Laotian toddler who picked one up and had her right leg and face blown off. Be assured this is now happening in Afghanistan, in your name. None of those directly involved in the September 11 atrocity was Afghani. Most were Saudis, who apparently did their planning and training in Germany and the United States. The camps which the Taliban allowed bin Laden to use were emptied weeks ago. Moreover, the Taliban itself is a creation of the Americans and the British. In the 1980s, the tribal army that produced them was funded by the CIA and trained by the SAS to fight the Russians. The hypocrisy does not stop there. When the Taliban took Kabul in 1996, Washington said nothing. Why? Because Taliban leaders were soon on their way to Houston, Texas, to be entertained by executives of the oil company, Unocal. With secret US government approval, the company offered them a generous cut of the profits of the oil and gas pumped through a pipeline that the Americans wanted to build from Soviet central Asia through Afghanistan. A US diplomat said: "The Taliban will probably develop like the Saudis did." He explained that Afghanistan would become an American oil colony, there would be huge profits for the West, no democracy and the legal persecution of women. "We can live with that," he said. Although the deal fell through, it remains an urgent priority of the administration of George W. Bush, which is steeped in the oil industry. Bush's concealed agenda is to exploit the oil and gas reserves in the Caspian basin, the greatest source of untapped fossil fuel on earth and enough, according to one estimate, to meet America's voracious energy needs for a generation. Only if the pipeline runs through Afghanistan can the Americans hope to control it. So, not surprisingly, US Secretary of State Colin Powell is now referring to "moderate" Taliban, who will join an American-sponsored "loose federation" to run Afghanistan. The "war on terrorism" is a cover for this: a means of achieving American strategic aims that lie behind the flag-waving facade of great power. The Royal Marines, who will do the real dirty work, will be little more than mercenaries for Washington's imperial ambitions, not to mention the extraordinary pretensions of Blair himself. Having made Britain a target for terrorism with his bellicose "shoulder to shoulder" with Bush nonsense, he is now prepared to send troops to a battlefield where the goals are so uncertain that even the Chief of the Defence Staff says the conflict "could last 50 years". The irresponsibility of this is breathtaking; the pressure on Pakistan alone could ignite an unprecedented crisis across the Indian sub-continent. Having reported many wars, I am always struck by the absurdity of effete politicians eager to wave farewell to young soldiers, but who themselves would not say boo to a Taliban goose. In the days of gunboats, our imperial leaders covered their violence in the "morality" of their actions. Blair is no different. Like them, his selective moralising omits the most basic truth. Nothing justified the killing of innocent people in America on September 11, and nothing justifies the killing of innocent people anywhere else. By killing innocents in Afghanistan, Blair and Bush stoop to the level of the criminal outrage in New York. Once you cluster bomb, "mistakes" and "blunders" are a pretence. Murder is murder, regardless of whether you crash a plane into a building or order and collude with it from the Oval Office and Downing Street. If Blair was really opposed to all forms of terrorism, he would get Britain out of the arms trade. On the day of the twin towers attack, an "arms fair", selling weapons of terror (like cluster bombs and missiles) to assorted tyrants and human rights abusers, opened in London's Docklands with the full backing of the Blair government. Britain's biggest arms customer is the medieval Saudi regime, which beheads heretics and spawned the religious fanaticism of the Taliban. If he really wanted to demonstrate "the moral fibre of Britain", Blair would do everything in his power to lift the threat of violence in those parts of the world where there is great and justifiable grievance and anger. He would do more than make gestures; he would demand that Israel ends its illegal occupation of Palestine and withdraw to its borders prior to the 1967 war, as ordered by the Security Council, of which Britain is a permanent member. He would call for an end to the genocidal blockade which the UN - in reality, America and Britain - has imposed on the suffering people of Iraq for more than a decade, causing the deaths of half a million children under the age of five. That's more deaths of infants every month than the number killed in the World Trade Center. There are signs that Washington is about to extend its current "war" to Iraq; yet unknown to most of us, almost every day RAF and American aircraft already bomb Iraq. There are no headlines. There is nothing on the TV news. This terror is the longest-running Anglo-American bombing campaign since World War Two. The Wall Street Journal reported that the US and Britain faced a "dilemma" in Iraq, because "few targets remain". "We're down to the last outhouse," said a US official. That was two years ago, and they're still bombing. The cost to the British taxpayer? £800 million so far. According to an internal UN report, covering a five-month period, 41 per cent of the casualties are civilians. In northern Iraq, I met a woman whose husband and four children were among the deaths listed in the report. He was a shepherd, who was tending his sheep with his elderly father and his children when two planes attacked them, each making a sweep. It was an open valley; there were no military targets nearby. "I want to see the pilot who did this," said the widow at the graveside of her entire family. For them, there was no service in St Paul's Cathedral with the Queen in attendance; no rock concert with Paul McCartney. The tragedy of the Iraqis, and the Palestinians, and the Afghanis is a truth that is the very opposite of their caricatures in much of the Western media. Far from being the terrorists of the world, the overwhelming majority of the Islamic peoples of the Middle East and south Asia have been its victims - victims largely of the West's exploitation of precious natural resources in or near their countries. There is no war on terrorism. If there was, the Royal Marines and the SAS would be storming the beaches of Florida, where more CIA-funded terrorists, ex-Latin American dictators and torturers, are given refuge than anywhere on earth. There is, however, a continuing war of the powerful against the powerless, with new excuses, new hidden agendas, new lies. Before another child dies violently, or quietly from starvation, before new fanatics are created in both the east and the west, it is time for the people of Britain to make their voices heard and to stop this fraudulent war - and to demand the kind of bold, imaginative non-violent initiatives that require real political courage. The other day, the parents of Greg Rodriguez, a young man who died in the World Trade Center, said this: "We read enough of the news to sense that our government is heading in the direction of violent revenge, with the prospect of sons, daughters, parents, friends in distant lands dying, suffering, and nursing further grievances against us. "It is not the way to go...not in our son's name.\
Assymetric Threat is a buzzword in the military, where they have to somehow adapt Armageddon to Armageddon Lite to fight the third world instead of Russia.
