3/19/03 Westwood Demonstration Pictures

by Demonstrator

Account with Pictures of Antiwar Demonstration at Westwood Federal Building March 19, 2003.

Antiwar demonstrations were continuous at the Westwood Federal building throughout the entire day! The first demonstration started at 10 am with a student protest, followed by another protest at starting at noon involving a march to an induction center at Wilshire and San Vicente and back, followed by yet another demonstration at 5pm. People are still out there NOW at 10:30 pm.

These pictures cover the demonstration that started at 12 noon and merged with the one at 5pm.

We started at the Federal Building and marched West along Wilshire to San Vicente. There we had a rally and a die-in in the middle of Wilshire Blvd. We then headed back along Wilshire toward the Federal Building. Police tailed us on motorcycles and ran their sirens at their loudest level for no apparent reason when we went under the 405 overpass, in an evident attempt to hurt our ears. They then gunned their cycles aggressively down the center divider, bumping in to a few people but not causing any injuries.

We passed the Federal Building and headed toward Westwood. I'm told that the march had a permit to go to Dianne Feinstein's Westwood office but the police formed a line along Wilshire and stabbed people at the front of the march with their batons, stopping the march.

People then milled around and a core group of about 50 or so sat down in the street. After about 45 minutes the police brought in a bus and arrested a bunch of people.

Some of us went around the police and got to Westwood and Wilshire to create a presence there and make motorists notice the demonstration that was occurring behind a police line down the street.

After an hour or so we went back to the Federal Building where a large crowd had already gathered for the 5pm demonstration.

The bombing has started so see you at 5pm tomorrow (Thursday) at the Westwood Federal Building, at the intersection of Wilshire and Veteran.

Mothers and Babies

by Maria Dominguez

These pictures concluded with this mother and baby picture has me in tears. Sadness from what is happening in Iraq. Sadness from all the lives being lost. Sadness that our government has taken their power to the level of dictatorship. But also PROUD that there are so many people willing to protest. That there are still so many people of princible willing to put themselves out there in the light to be seen and heard. People who won't hesitate in silence, who won't let fear keep them from fighting for what is right and just. I'm proud to be an American who raises her voice loud in protest of the war to be joined by millions of others!

the fear that Saddam will attack the US with WMD shows how PARANOID americans are.

they don't really know why he will attack
they just know he will

"we don't know what a nigger is, but we're just gonna hate 'em anyway"

AMERICAN HYPOCRISY

TO ANY PRO-WAR ADVOCATE
I DARE YOU TO REPLY TO THIS:

The US government supported Saddam during his most murderous years. They supplied him with WMD and the technology to make his own WMD. EVEN THOUGH HE WAS A KNOWN TYRANT. Why? So that he would use them on the Iranians. Even after Halabja in 1988, the US government CONTINUED to support him.

Now in the year 2003 (whether it is morally just or not), Saddam no longer wishes to play into US global strategy. So he is ALL OF A SUDDEN branded a TYRANT ------ EVEN THOUGH HE WAS A MURDEROUS TYRANT ALL THE YEARS THE US SUPPORTED HIM!

Isn't it hypocritical that although he was even more murderous back then, he was considered an ALLY and FRIEND OF AMERICA simply because he was killing Iranians (if 5,000 kurds happened to be gassed in a single attack thats no big deal). Now he's still murderous but now the US actually acknowledges that he is a tyrant. Imagine if he was still following US wishes by fighting with Iraq, would the US be calling him a TYRANT? I DON'T THINK SO.

HYPOCRISY HYPOCRISY HYPOCRISY.

Until the US apologizes to the victims of Saddam terror DURING THE YEARS THAT THEY SUPPORTED HIM, this war will only be about US PARANOIA and its attempts at gaining a FALSE sense of security.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

war advocates only want to see sand nigger blood being spilled. they try to improve the body count
2,500 Americans (WTC) < 100,000 Sand Niggers.

So they can feel better about themselves and feel as if they "won" the overall battle. Their oh so precious American pride was hurt on 9/11 and now they seek to get it back by killing sand niggers left rite and center

(basically this is the whole starship troopers scenario)
