STOP THE SWEEPS NOW!!

Since last August, Skid Row's homeless people have undergone the largest mass arrests of homeless people in L.A. history; hundreds of homeless people each month now have faced multiple daily raids of police demanding warrant checks, searches and property confiscation --as waves of 50 new LAPD officers brought to the area have swept through for daily beatings and arrests of homeless people --in order to now clear downtown for the newest wave of luxury loft developers. The Los Angeles Coalition to End Hunger and Homelessness estimates as many as 4,000 poor and homeless people may have had police demand their ID; handcuffed them; searched through every bag, suitcase, and possession they have --and then been transported to the LAPD booking room; and cuffed to a bench for up to an hour or more before being given a "choice:"

get into a "shelter" --or go to jail.

A Federal Court recently found almost 90,000 homeless people in Los Angeles County --and less than 30,000 shelter beds.

Incredibly, Central Division is getting away with now not classify these Skid Row actions as "arrests" --Division Captain Andrew Smith even recently claims that arrests on Skid Row "declined" this year. (citing only about an additional 2,000 "official arrests").

http://www.downtownnews.com/articles/2007/01/08/news/news01.txt

LAPD are conducting a mass disinformation campaign that has hid the actual arrests figures since last November.

http://la.indymedia.org/news/2006/11/188692.php

Nor do these figures include recent pre-dawn raids --where sleeping residents are woke up and are told, now, since the first of the year, to "leave in 20 minutes" or be arrested.

Additionally, since the first of the year, Skid Row Police are systematically clearing now entire streets in pre-dawn raids: Los Angeles, San Pedro, 5th St. and Crocker St. --and herding people towards the L.A. river --demanding that thousands of homeless people maintain themselves now in the fifty blocks of Skid Row for up to 2&1/2 hours each day without any public water source; only one public toilet that's not in a religious mission; and not a single public place to lie down, or even sit, until 8:30 a.m..; when only two tiny parks, with barely enough rain cover for 50 people, are supposed to serve a street population of up to 4,000 at any given time.

A homeless person on Skid Row was mocked last week by one LAPD policeman, "By the end of this month all this will be gone" --referring to the thousands of homeless people here who are breaking no law, and yet are facing daily, unprecedented, cop harassment. LA City Council insiders are even warning activists that such raids are being now contemplated soon for Hollywood, Venice, the Valley, and South L.A..

Stated Robert Erlinbusch, Director of the anti-poverty advocacy group, The Los Angeles Coalition to End Hunger and Homelessness:

"There are also many reasons why people will refuse to go to shelters; firstly, they are almost always full --making them impossible for many to get into -and, additionally, shelters separate unmarried partners; they often refuse to accommodate people's dogs or other pets; or provide adequate storage and transport of possessions; they do not accommodate mothers with children of certain ages; and they are often places extreme, and unlawful, hostility to anyone of the LGBT community."

A Federal Court order currently forbids LAPD from arresting anyone for merely sleeping on the sidewalk in the Skid Row area between 9 p.m. at night, and 6 a. m. each morning.

People are urged to bring signs, banners, and self-standing tents with footprints no larger than 8'x8'; solar panels; water; legal internet relay antennas; healthy vegetarian food and --respect for ALL residents here --for the rally, and to support the growing community resistance.

Homeless People: the canary in the mine for our rights

by Becky Johnson

Just as the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled last April that it is "cruel and inhuman punishment" to arrest people for sleeping at night when insufficient shelter is available, the LAPD are finding alternative ways to harass, cite, move-along, and arrest homeless people for the status of being too poor to afford housing.

While many "progressive" and "liberal" middle-class people allow punitive law after law to be passed against "those people" in order to remove them from sight, they are trading away their own rights to exist in public places, to be able to sit down, or lie down, or to speak...as in asking for spare change.

When the police can arrest you for the act of sleeping, then police power has gone too far. Here the courts are reasonably restraining inhuman behavior on the part of the police, only to see them committing all kinds of other human rights abuses.

Those so-called progressive Los Angelinos need to look again at what they are promoting or allowing to occurr allegedly on their behalf and with their money.

Its not just a matter of building more shelters or housing. Its about respecting the human rights of homeless people too.

LA Is Hell! Assist In Attack and Plunder

by American Holocaust Victim

LA is Hell. I was forcibly injected there and put in jail for owning a firearm, given one million dollars bail and forced to remain silent on money laundering at the federal banking regulatory agency, the FDIC.

The best bet is to either leave LA or set up mayhem and robberies and plunder those filthy rich pigs.

Never again serve their military. Applaud when their leaders are held captive and decapitated if monies are not paid.

They are terrorists. Let them or IT die in terror. Pity the poor of that damned city. We are nothing to them.

Beware of VA Healthcare in LA. They are doing forced experiments and forced injections. I know, I served the military there when I was young and naive and later trusted them, and I was tortured and injected. See the link here in the "continuing problems section" at the bottom of the page on this link. let them bleed and make money from it when you do.

Attack for Profit, LA A Nightmare

by American Holocaust Victim

The poor in LA are abused. I was a forced injections victim at the LA VA Hospital. Vets should not use the VA healthcare in LA. See the "Cotinuing Problems Section" at the bottom of this link. I was injected in 2001, forcibly injected several times.

http://www.rbs2.com/humres.htm#anchor381589

We should attack the wealthy and take their wealth and we should exact an eye for an eye. The USA government in LA is a nightmare and we should applaud when the ruling factors are attacked and dismembered.

The era of love and peace is over. They or it is at war with us. We are at war with it or them.

I served the USA military there. I was young and naive. I support the right of all nations to attack our enemies in power. they are not what they seem.

I was a bank examiner turned informant on money launderers at the federal agency, the FDIC in California . I was injected, given one millions dollars bail, incarcerated and eventually poisoned and partially blinded. I have survived attempts on my life.

Let us applaud when those filthy rich pigs lose their cash and their heads.

Never again serve or protect them. make a profit, make it count, and make it bloody if necessary.

They or IT started the war with us. We are now at war with it or them.

All volunteer juries could help homeless peoples rights and our rights

by Eric Matteson

How can All Volunteer Juries help Homeless people Volunteer for jury duty.
The most important thing that well educated highly qualified
voluntary jurors can do to help homeless people is
to realize that all people have the constitutional right to
lie down and the right to sleep
outside any time of day or night.
There is also a right to go to the bathroom outside especially if there
are not enough free public toilets in that area
legally available at that time
.
The first step is passing an all volunteer jury system
though congress and the state legislatures and by
the voters in the several states
.
Very smart voluntary jurrors know about a special way
to assist the constitution and human rights.
It is called jury nullification Jury nullification is when jurrors refuse to convict
someone for sleeping outside in the daytime who was
just sleeping oudoors without blockading a doorway.
because the jurors who have volunteered for jury duty know
that it is wrong to pass or enforce a law or ordinance
or ordnance against sleeping outside.
Voluntary jurrors also know it is bad for business
when customers see police harrass someone for just
sleeping outside.
No customer wants to shop in a police state neighborhood
where police state city council people will not allow
sleeping outside or any freedom at all.
.
Judges will learn from the voluntary jurrors about
jury nullification to promote human rights.
Then judges will refuse to enforce the ordinances against
sleeping outside
Judges will then decree.
If cities do not want homeless people to blockade
doorways they should pass a law against blockading doorways
instead of outlawing all sleeping outside!!!!!!!
Pretty please begin working on an all volunteer juries bill NOW!!!
Nobody really wants their fate decided by twelve uneducated
people who are unable to get out of jury duty!
