Please join us for a discussion of this important topic. The presentation will describe the process of how to utilize the law to obtain Medical Aid in Dying in California and will include the story of Rich Gillock (former AU OC member) who used the medication in March 2020. The purpose of the law is to allow those with a terminal illness the choice to have a peaceful death at home with loved ones, to have their pain and discomfort managed, and to have their spiritual needs and values respected. This discussion will also provide information on attempts by religious groups to derail the legislation as well as how religious groups attempt to prevent individuals from utilizing the law. Additionally we will discuss plans to reauthorize the law and proposed changes.
