New Fil-Am Literary Magazine Requesting Submissions from Youth (tags)

TAYO is the first independent literary magazine dedicated to Filipino American youth in Southern California. All of the following are accepted: poetry, essays, short stories, digital art, drawings, graffiti, photography, and paintings. Art and written work focusing on the Filipino American experience is encouraged, but not required. The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2009. The Filipino American Library presents Free Bus Tours of Historic Filipinotown (tags)

What is Filipino about Historic Filipinotown? The Filipino American Library (FAL) answers this question in its Bus Tours of Historic Filipinotown on Saturday, November 22 at FAL (135 N. Park View St., Los Angeles 90026). Four 1.5-hour tours will begin at 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm, and 4:00pm. To reserve a seat, please contact filamlibrary@sbcglobal.net or 213-382-0488. While the tours are free, space is limited and they usually fill up in advance.

SAT, OCT 25 – Filipino Children’s Reading Event in Chino Hills (tags)

For the very first time, the largest Filipino library in the country will share Filipino children’s books to families in San Bernardino County. Through its Children’s Reading Program, the Filipino American Library (FAL) will have an event on Saturday, October 25 at 2:00-4:00pm at the James S. JFAV ALL SET TO MARCH FOR EQUITY, JUSTICE and FAMILY REUNIFICATION, FEB 19. (tags)

What do We want, Equity ! No Justice, No Peace! The Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) an alliance of different Filipino World War II veterans groups, youth and students and community groups are all set to mark the 62nd year of the Rescission Act on February 18, and March on Feb 19. 2008 in Los Angeles.. The JFAV will mark February 18 with two mass actions. The first event called JFAV EDUCATION AND ACTION FORUM will be held on February 18 from 9:00 to 2:00 PM at the Lake St. Park Community Center. The invited speakers for the events are Senator Gil Cedillo of 22nd District, California and Muna Cobtee of ANSWER-LA. The forum seeks to study more about the Filipino Veteran's Struggle and strategize ways to gain justice and equity in 2008
