This pursuit amounted to nothing more than a "police manhunt for a murder suspect" who in fact was no murder suspect at all. The vehicle he was driving was properly registered to his wife, yet according to LAPD spokespersons during the televised pursuit and later in the news, Carmichael was said to be driving a vehicle that was stolen and associated with a murder suspect.
