KPFK is the prime radio station of 5 in Pacifica. KPFA in Berkeley seems to be acting illegally or secretly to separate OUT and away from Pacifica with 1 faction hiding their moves. This is here a repost to inform those who want KPFK in LA to continue and not fall prey to tactics used at it's sister station. Beware non-transparent games even within 'non-profit' corporations owned by stakeholders [ funders, pledge $ givers].this could be a warning of what may also be gamed with KPFKs existence. KPFK is an integral part of Pacifica... problems infect our LA station. Indymedia appears to be the only site where updates and iinformation-sharing on what is happening on extentions of what is OUR RADIO station - paid for by subscribers/ stakeholders ! - KPFK. The dearth of access, transparency and discussion in LA anywhere on line speaks to the secrecy and denial with impunity that is occuring daily in our radio sphere, while demanding more and more $$$$ from us ...or else.. here is more to learn, ask, share and perhaps even to get involved in any ways possible - including attending the confict-full, argumentative, and uncourteous harrangues at the Local Station Board on March 22, 1 pm in WLA See KPFK.org for details, under 'events'.

To all appearances, the conflicts continue as unresolved as nations within nations do, without the physical bullets and rockets but with the same intents and results it seems. Some are not going to seek out information so this seems to be a site where some PACIFICA and it’s local affiliate KPFK doings and undoings are being revealed. Events continue in the higher levels of a mixed-up Pacifica Fdtn with who is in charge and who is not and who has authority and who claims what. With most in Los Angeles not extending to keep up with details as others derail and destroy what was before a ‘radical’ variety of programming at KPFK, along with it’s sponsors, here are reposted excerpts to both advise, inform, and urge activism in any form an Indy reader will dare to help the mess from spilling over and out into KPFK and so into our lives here. Pacifica is in broken shape, in at least two separate pieces: The Executive Directorship is allocated to 2 people by at least 2 groups. One is Summer Reese, [ a long time PNB chair and member, and she was contractually hired after many months working as interim ED ] and the other is Bernard Duncan, former KPFK general manager [ who claimed to be going to NZ to be with his girlfriend and he left his KPFK position months before his contract was up.]

Pacifica conflict over who is Executive Director continues in it's non-wisdom and contenders vying for power and position. Here are excerpts of some updated info and names the PNB members who voted 12- to - 10 to 'fire' the one most recently hired. Some of these KPFK - LSB members who only very recently were elevated to PNB are included in the ousting, outing of Summer Reese. 3 of our 4 voted by phone to expel her. We need to hold all our LSB and PNB [acting as non-] representatives accountable for their actions, and not for their own personal opinions - - unless those interfere and overtake their responsibility to all us KPFK subscribers/ sponsors/ payers/ members.
