The State of Abortion RightsAt Americans United we recognize that reproductive freedom is religious freedom, and no one should use religion to deny others reproductive care. This is why we are pleased to have Emily Escobar speak to us on the state of abortion rights.
Emily Escobar serves as the Public Affairs Advocacy Manager at Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties (PPOSBC). In her current role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the Community Action Fundâs advocacy work. Emily is a Guatemalan immigrant woman who is passionate about advancing reproductive healthcare for communities who need it most. Starting as a campus organizer with the Feminist Majority Foundation, Emily successfully mobilized college students to fight for abortion rights in different states; including leading successful GOTV and pro-reproductive rights campaigns, working on the ground to support abortion clinics, and supporting feminist organizing efforts on college campuses. Most recently she engaged in advocacy and education work with the United State of Women by leading the development of digital issue-based campaigns.
Emily graduated with her BA in Womenâs, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from CSU Long Beach and holds a Masterâs in Applied Gender Studies from Claremont Graduate University.
