Goldendale Observatory was one of the first Dark Sky Parks to be certified by the IDA. Now, due to long-standing lack of protection and Washington State Park's unwillingness to protect and preserve it's dark sky asset, it has become the first International Dark Sky Park to be decertified by the International Dark Sky Association in the Dark Sky Places Program.
