Sounds kind of nice doesn't it? Here's the dystopian part.

Consider the staff and guests informants. Do not share information. Be especially carfeul about people from the FIVE EYES countries, US/UK/CAN/AUS/NZ. The Germans are only slightly less creepy.
Every hostel I've been to has FBI tradecraft everywhere. In fact, there will always be at least one person whistling, coughing or sneezing all the time. This is the how informants annouce themselves and intimidate others. Look for this. If you ignore these people they will try to penalize you in some way; and may attack you as a group. This can be subtle or aggressive. Usually aggressive.
FBI field agents are usually psychopaths. They will dig into communities like ticks and stay for life. Pay special attention to fake hippies, especially if they have no visible means of support. The rustic nature of these hostels is a perfect cover for them. Yoda says, "backpackers forever they are!" In fact all of these hostels have an FBI informant keeping track of everone who comes and gos and the time. They will usually be waiting on the corner or in parking lots for hours, just loitering. These people will also interfere with you.
Notice To Parents:
I am a parent and a grandparent and I would not want to send my young traveler on a vaction in a foreign country, supervised by the FBI. They take advantage of people; and if your child is naive thay may get into some very serious trouble that will follow them for life.
BTW, the FBI does use and target women and children.
