Violence Against Poor In Venice

This request for help indicates that violence against people living in RVs is increasing.

People who are involved in gentrification like to point at transients, people who have mental health issues, or who are unhoused, as "dangerous", but if that were the case, who is attacking the RVs and cars of people who are so poor they must live in these vehicles?

It's not known, and may never be known, because it's the forces of gentrification: the middle and upper middle class, the rich, the real estate agents, the "investors", the banks.

They are "genteel" by day, but at night, they are violent vandals, asshole vigilantes, and criminal thugs. And if they aren't bold enough to do the dirty work themselves, they hire people, sellouts, to do it.

"David Garcia has lived on the streets of Venice for decades. His life improved when he was able to buy a RV, giving him a safer place to sleep and store his belongings. On the night of April 14th, David's RV was set on fire and destroyed. The fire is part of a string of attacks upon folks in Venice who live in their RVs, campers and cars. These attacks also include tire-slashings and window-breakings. Anti-homeless sentiment is on the rise in gentrified Venice and these crimes further threaten our community. David no longer feels safe in Venice and may move away. But before he can do anything, he needs a new RV to live in.

We would like to raise funds so that David can buy a replacement RV. $5,000 will help buy a decent used camper or RV and will help replace many of the personal belongings that were destroyed by the fire. Please help David get back on his feet and recover from this traumatic attack. "
