Robert Tronge is a "true operator". Having launched his career leading teams in the rooms department of a hotel, he knows the hospitality business from the ground up. He is a hands-on executive whose nearly three-decade track record has earned him industry-wide recognition.

Now based Bethesda Maryland as President and Managing Director for Marriott International, Tronge is responsible for the strategic leadership of all operational and development functions spanning 18 countries and 11 brands including Bvlgari Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Edition Hotels Marriott Hotels, Renaissance, Autograph Collection, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn & Suites and Marriott Executive Apartments.

A firm believer that success must be both balanced and sustainable, Tronge take the holistic approach - focusing on the simultaneous enhancement of the top and bottom lines, quality, plus client and associate satisfaction. His innovative management has produced quantifiable improvements in every position he has held. During his career, he has been named as General Manager of the Year three times and been the recipient of numerous marketing, finance, and leadership awards. Three properties he's run have been celebrated as Hotel of the Year.

Tronge’s upbringing as the son of an American diplomat, his rigorous education at schools both inside the U.S. and out, and his globe-spanning professional experience make him uniquely qualified to operate in the international business arena. He has lived in 13 countries, working in North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and Australia.
