Los Angeles, CA - November 18, 2015 - Did you know it takes 1300 gallons to make one hamburger (verses 42 gallons for a veggie burger)? “Got Drought?” is a public art project aimed at raising awareness about the toll animal agriculture has on the environment, especially in terms of the current drought in California.

Animal Agriculture uses 47% of California’s total water; meanwhile residents are asked to cut their water use by 25%, even though residential water use accounts for only 4% of CA’s total water footprint. Artists Karen Fiorito and Alex Arinsburg have teamed together to get this information to the public via a billboard campaign and interactive website that will debut along side the unveiling of the boards across Los Angeles.

The boards will debut in Los Angeles on November 28, 2015 and are a part of the Vision LA ’15 Climate Arts Festival (November 30 – December 10, 2015), an arts festival engaging communities county-wide, calling for a swift response to the climate crisis, and creatively envisioning LA’s sustainable future.

This project has received a Pollination Project grant, A Well Fed World Sustainable Keys grant and has successfully raised over $2500 in crowd funding. The artists have also secured 2 large bulletin boards in Silver Lake and Downtown, Los Angeles and 10 smaller boards across Hollywood, Silver Lake, Culver City and Santa Monica.
